Topic: Should Castlevania music have electric guitar or rock music in it?

country or country gospel would be difficult to do for a CV game unless the game itself took place in said environment. If ever a game came out starring Quincy Morris in a haunted wild west setting I would definitely recommend it.

I've brought up that idea some time ago, but yeah, as a CV spinoff, starring Quincy venturing through ghost towns and the wilderness of the frontier lands, fighting devil worshipping cults, ancient Lovecraftian terrors and supernatural creatues based on Native American lore, that would totally kick ass! The Morris clan could be doing what the Belmonts are doing in Europe, but in in the Americas(not just the west). I can see them traveling, having adventures fighting Voodoo witches in the swamps of Louisiana, the ancient evils that took the lost Roanoke colony, the Wendigos of Canada, an Aztec blood cult in Mexico, and such. Lots of cool potential.

I prefer the grander orchestra feel, but with the music in Castlevania you can get the best of both worlds. Especially in the metroidvanias I'm convinced you could cover the songs in the style of almost any genre and have it fit, given the right area of the castle.

As an answer for the question, yes. Not an absolutely yes, only when the direction is very careful.

In my oppinion, since the beggining Castlevania music was "very lively", for a Dracula-theme video game. Just hear to Wicked Child in CVI. In every game (correct me if is not true), the games has music from calm rhythm to a more lively one. So yes, for me the saga can have electric guitar or rock music in it, as long as its identity remains untouched...

...and, what about that combination with vocals? I love Trezier de Spirit

IMO, given the horror lore the series has tapped into and what it's created, the Castlevania series is FULL of wasted potential, especially when comes to an extended universe. There's so much awesome stuff Konami "could have" done. Tsk tsk...

That was my exact opinion the first time that I hear to the HD music. Maybe Konami wants a "cool" soundtrack for that type of game, but personally I do not like it.

Trezire de Spirit is one of my favourites, I must admit, along with De-a lungul vietii, from the Pachislot III ost, which is superbly done.

Harmony of Despair's was an abomination not because it was all rock (see also Curse of Darkness' being good), but because it was simply not well done. They put a C List artist on that one at best.

I actually liked HD's soundtrack, but yeah, I can totally understand the over-use of guitars, and the fact that most arrangements were too "simple". Judgment on the other hand was even better.
