So...has anyone seen, heard of, or tried Undertale yet?  My cousin recommended I look into it because I love Earthbound, and because it's been getting ridiculously awesome reviews.  I've played it a bit and I totally freaking love it!!

Yeah I believe for a little while it was the highest rated PC game on metacritic, though it's dropped for a 96 to a 93 now. I've not played it yet but my friends who have seem to adore it.

I'm right at the end of a "regular" playthrough...I've spared bosses but killed many regular enemies.  (Don't know how far you've played, I don't want to spoil anything for you)  I've tried not to spoil anything because I've enjoyed it so much, but I played the demo like 5 times, and from that I imagine that there will be alternate endings based on killing everything or killing nothing.  Not sure what I'll do about the fact that the game remembers everything yet, but maybe it'll still work.  I'm gonna try NOT killing anything next.

So here's a rundown on how to get the other two major endings:

True Pacifist ending: Don't kill anyone, befriend Papyrus, Undyne, and Alphys (only possible after getting a neutral ending, you'll need to get a letter from Undyne to initiate this), and clear the True Lab. Note: You can do this without starting a new game as long as you haven't killed anyone, just load after getting the neutral ending, then fulfill the conditions for this ending.

Genocide ending: In each area, kill every single encounter until no one pops up on random encounters, and kill all bosses. WARNING: Will taint future true pacifist endings... Unless you tinker with the game's save files (and probably registry entries).

I would guess neutral is probably what I'm already doing?

Yep, on the first playthrough the only endings you can get right off the bat are neutral and genocide.

Finished my first playthrough last night.  Aside from a few story revelations the neural ending was alright.  I'll go for pacifist next.

Based on story so far, Flowey seems to just be a jerk so I decided to kill him.  Sadly, it doesn't seem I can reuse that file now to replay the final battles and see what happens if I spare him. :-/ After he closes the game it restarts normally instead of Flowey's way.

I haven't played it but I did look at a lot of playthroughs of it. Its nothing at all like Maniac Mansion from what I have seen. One can be easily fooled that this is an old school SNES RPG. The creator Toby Fox was heavily inspired by Mother 3 (Earthbound 2) when he made this game. I'm actually dying to play this game. I suppose eventually I will.

On another note the soundtrack to this game is incredible in my opinion.

Yeah, the soundtrack is really great. I haven't been able to get much into the game itself, though...I got to the second boss or so and got a lil bored. Maybe I'll pick it back up sometime, though ;o

That's exactly what happened to me in the first few minutes. Just keep at it. It gets way better.

What I like about this game is how the bosses have their own unique gimmicks as well as the ways you have to overcome those attacks to beat them in a pacifist way.  What I also like about this game is how the first boss effectively teaches you how to play pacifist, which is a nice thing as well.  Even common enemy encounters are entertaining due to the flavour text.  I haven't tried
