All I will say is that if you're with a partner, you've had an awesome past together since you were in highschool and you're now a grown adult and that partner is treating you badly, it doesn't negate the niceness and harmony that was the past. However, any semblance of a relationship you used to have in "the now" will go out the window very quickly.

This is one of the few situations I will be that guy and say everyone's pov's are valid.
Scholar has a point with the critique thing
D9's logic about the table actually made me crack a smirk, and is insightful
Belmontoya has a valid point about not expending negative energy.

I'm more interested in where to from here.
What do we expect from Konami?
What can we do as hardcore fans?

I'm finding the cruelest twist of irony is that Iga is basically giving us Castlevania's 30th anniversary celebration with Bloodstained.

What I would really like to see from Konami is "Castlevania Anniversary Collection v.1"
This could be all of the NES SNES, arcade, genesis/ megadrive and TG16/PCE titles bundled as one with extras.(if applicable)

I would also really like a Goemon collection, call me old fashioned but I preferred Goemon 64 over Mario 64 and played that game to death. (No castlevania pun intended)

Step one would be a massive influx of new talent untethered to Konami's past. This may sound counter-intuitive but any influx of young fresh talent means essentially bringing in young professionals who grew up with classic Konami games.

The older generation of board members would have to be ousted, and replaced by game devs from the classic era and a balance of newer younger leaders who aren't afraid to take chances and leap at a few "so crazy it just might work" plans.

A clear sign from the company that they haven't forgotten where they came from would be appropriate after this, and a set of Castlevania anniversary releases along with some proper remakes of some lesser known Konami projects like Getsu Fuma and Goemon would be shiny as all hell and would garner a lot of goodwill. A commitment to mobile games that don't suck and don't rely on microtransactions (instead selling for anywhere from $4 to $12 to help recoup costs) would also win some goodwill from fans.

Furthermore, a public apology to former employees who were mistreated and cast out by the old company is in order.

Follow that with announcements of some new I.Ps to carry Konami into the next 30 years, along with refreshes of the old favorites: a Metal Gear reboot, a new Silent Hill, and a new series of Castlevania games (with a fresh timeline more heavily inspired by the Classicvanias) to provide a link to the old days.

All that would snowball into a massive perception that Konami is back in action and that they are in it to win it, and generate enormous amounts of positive press (and revenue) from some very relieved fans.

It might even be the kick in the pants that competitors like Capcom needed to get off their fat asses and produce something good as well.

A revitalized Konami would be a force for incredible good in the industry.

I won't bash them, they have lost their way though for sure. Their past is part of my collection, a past where they didn't have as many missteps. To me, the writing on the wall started when they changed their logo to what it is today. They are not alone on this boat, they have a partner doing the exact same thing in Capcom.

Taito is my company of choice, they are not an independent company these days, haven't been for awhile (part of Square-Enix). They don't put out as much anymore, but their past library is simply something to behold, they took risks a lot, and had some truly standout games, even if some play like other companies games. They gave us Bubble Bobble, Arkanoid, Puzzle Bobble, the Darius series (which is still going), Puchi Carat (an overlooked gem), Pop N Pop, and an absolute shitload of other great games.

Technically this isn't really a thread for bashing. The title and op are meant to be satirical. Ee accept both roasting and constructive criticism in this thread.

Man, after playing LoS2, the rush was apparent, SEGA called, their suing because that's their trend.
Lost IGA and Kojima eh? I guess Konami is gonna release their own Chinese Democracy Album.
Why wasn't Snake in Smash 4? Nintendo wasn't down to make Smash on Mobile phones.
Hmm, I guess the Phantom Pain is going to be a common feeling at HQ.
When I think Castlevania, I think sexy slot machines am I right?
So, when approaching the Mobile market, what's the first game? Angery Belmonts? Contra Crush? Metal Gear runner?
It's all good, more Newgrounds guys are gonna be rich off of those games they spent 10 minutes programming.

Actually a Castlevania or Metal Gear themed endless runner would be kind of fun. Platforming comes naturally to Castlevania, and the Metal Gear one could be Snake running from baddies who spotted him whilst trying to finish his mission as much as possible as he can on the way out.

Here, more fuel to warm up the thread.

This makes my heart sink even more since I'm on a Contra binge.  I've been playing the Alien Wars, Hard Corps and Shattered Soldier a bit recently.

Oh man, I could easily see myself purchasing that, dusting off my moga controller, then feeling buyer's remorse afterward.

The only mobile game I've ever purchased was Zenonia, and I actually played in on PS3.

Later I found it ironic that the main character's name is

That Contra game seems like a much, much better attempt at a reboot of the classic then Contra ReBirth ever did. ReBirth's story did not make any sense. And they even had one of them cross dress in the later cinematic scenes. No thank you Konami. That was terrible! Note the image below and cry in shame.

I don't care for the mobile market as these games were meant to be played on the big screen. Like Castlevania, Contra should not be downgraded in this manner.

The only mobile games I ever play nowadays are the Sonic 1 and 2 remakes... and even then I want them out on consoles or PC.

For some reason the plot was the least of my problems with Contra Rebirth.  I just went with the flow of how crazy it was for some reason (although I do wish Lance was playable).  My biggest gripe is the lack of weapons in Rebirth.

I dunno about the PS3 port, but I cleared the entire Zenonia series on my Moto X back in 2014 and thought it was pretty fun. Not a deep game, but fun.

Also, Dead Space Mobile, Shadowgun, Dead Effect 1 & 2, the NOVA series, Order and Chaos, Runbot, and a whole host of others speak to how great mobile games can be. We're no longer stuck in a Mobile Gaming Ghetto of the Java age. Mobile games can be polished, gorgeous, fun experiences.

The concern is that many big time studios use mobile as a quick cash grab and those games aren't good or fun. I imagine if Konami subcontracted to a mobile gaming specialist like Gameloft, Gamevil, Crescent Moon, or Glu Mobile to handle games made off of their properties, we'd see something that was as good as we could possibly get in mobile hardware and would leave us feeling like our money was well spent.

I didn't hate Zenonia but it was a bit too grindy for me. Got to the second or third dungeon and lost interest.

Isn't Gameloft under Ubisoft?

No.

It was co-founded by former Ubisoft bigwig Michel Guillemot, but he'd already departed from Ubisoft by the time he founded Gameloft. It's a fully separate company and not bound to Ubisoft in any meaningful way aside from absorbing some of their former development staff.

Furthermore, their track record of quality games on mobile is pretty impressive -- they made the first ever mobile games I saw as more than cheap Java knockoffs when they were subcontracted by Ubisoft in 2008 to make the mobile game for Assassin's Creed, and it was actually pretty fun. They made it into a side scroller metroidvania style game and it was awesome, but also really frustratingly hard in some segments as well. I never did beat it, actually.
