Just a question that's been bubbling in my head for some time. A lot of things can affect who we consider the "iconic Belmont", but in my experience it usually boils down to Simon, Ralph/Trevor, or Richter, as they've been the most recurrent Belmonts across numerous titles. Gabriel might also count as Lords of Shadow introduced a lot of new fans to the saga.

For my money, it will always be Simon. The original and genuine article who in my mind originates and defines everything that it means to be a Belmont. Even if the precise number of adventures he actually had is occasionally called into question, there's no doubting that this big guy is my most iconic Belmont and the first bloke I think of when I hear the word "Belmont".
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

It is precisely because it never cared, that people do care.  It's something which it's lacking, because that which it has, it has lackluster of.

You are now reading this in Robert Belgrade's voice.

Then Lords of Shadow 2 just takes a big, semi-solid, smelly, pea-green dump all over everything.

Same for me. Simon is the clean slate, the Belmont archetype to build upon. He's the dude we picture eating Wall Meat and doing the Belmont strut, and the dude has a million faces too. The defining theme of the series was his before he earned one with his name on it.

The Castlevania formula of a vampire hunter fighting Dracula is told and retold with Simon for a reason.
The mastermind behind the "Umbra of Sorrow" project. But not the only one.

Well the man does cosplay as Simon. I chose Simon as well. I grew up with the NESvanias as CV II was my first introduction into the series. Whenever the name Belmont comes to mind Simon is right there with it.

Well, though my favorite Belmont is Julius, when I think of Belmonts, I just unconsciously think of Simon.

For my pick, it's Richter. SotN was one of the first games I've played and beaten (several times). He's also, in my opinion, the toughest Belmont out of all of them. Just look at those fuckin' muscles.

Simon for sure. He's just the quintessential Belmont, the "OG" Belmont, even if he isnt technically the first one storywise

Richter is close mate, his Sprite is also very iconic. I just think of 8-bit Simon with this red tunic everytime I think CV, but Richter definitely neck and neck, 2nd by a bee's dick only.

I'll say the iconic one is either Simon or Richter. Everyone knows Simon, everyone knows his iconic boxart pose, and he's the one with the action figures and small statues. That being said Richter is pretty damn popular as well- he's got the Castlevania cosplay costume market monopolized, he's the sprite everyone uses for fan games or even official redesigns (as Evil Trevor in SOTN), he's the ghost u fight in PoR, and he's featured on a fuck ton of fan art (maybe Simon moreseo who knows)

They've both got that gangsta walk and huge back muscle stance. Simon's box art in Cv1 was just a bit closer to what I actually picture him like. But the red tunic does it for me, it's very memorable. Plus Simon's technically beaten Dracula the most number of times. (even if not on the same timeline)

When i say "Belmont" by itself, I'm referring to Trevor/Ralph.
