It took you that long to say day one locked solid  :P

It's been locked or whatever with me since day one.

For the reviewers here without spoiling it, if you could describe the modern day setting in one word what would it be?

Also I feel like castlevania and shin megami tensei should have a crossover but that's just me.

It´s like castle segments of LOS1 but with pipes, steam, cars and light posts. Feels repetitive and lifeless sometimes. Pretty good work in the graphics tough

I'm glad some of you like the game you like to rate a 8/9, is really what it is, a good game with some flaws (some are correctable).

I told you that play yourselves to judge, we do not all like the same type of games. Some do not like all styles of games, but its kind of gender los2 is very very good. (eg I am a big fan of Kingdoms of Amalur game despised by many but which I loved)

Good thing they are doing the DLC (not made yet) and developers take note and learn from the opinions and criticisms. I already said it several times but the DLC did not contribute anything at the end of the story, only tells the parallel current paths and some past events, is only confirmed for now Alucard (as it all depends on sales), but were thinking in 3 DLC (those with history are the ones that matter, the rest are cosmetics) if sales go well.

If things go well 3 DLC would be just before year end, but it is very probable that only the first DLC is made by MS and the other two by another Konami team.

MS already has his head in the new project and do not want to spend resources.

Does anyone who has the game know if there's an option to turn off all the tutorial text? They made a huge deal out of not having as much hand-holding in this game, but it sure doesn't look like it at first glance.

Anyone?

Okay I only spoiled some bosses, not the in between boss gameplay. The bosses look cool. I hope that the Contra bosses will also be as epic. :P

People, why are you spoiling yourselves? We know for a fact the game is more than good enough. Isn't that matter of celebration? It is for me.

Some people just don't give a shit. You're not their mommy. Let them do what they want.

I'm not planning on playing it, either any time soon, or at all. They've lost me already. So, I don't really care about keeping away from spoilers at this point. Mostly I was curious about the sequel potential, since I want this stuff to end and get back to the main series.

This game could be part of the original canon and no one would bat an eye.

Wrong.

^ You are wrong. But you haven't played it so I understand.

The modern setting is interesting, and the city has VERY cool parts, however it's kinda heartbreaking that with all these crazy towers and Locations in the distance the tram made you traverse through pipe corridors, which are as boring as always. When you're out things get better . There is one funny thing and it's that Dracula uses elevators. It's funny, I mean it's the prince of darkness, using an elevator lol.

In summary, the modern setting is too interesting, and there are very cool modern locations (a plaza, a cathedral, a maniac asylum, the streets are pretty cool) but both Acolyte's headquarters are generic and drab, the worst parts of the game by far. Mind you, you pass more time in the Castle than the city and the csstle is amazing. The sight of the throne room entrance will get you speechless. The game is pure architechtural porn.

Seems like most European press is praising the game, while american one no. Just saying.
I guess that all IGA haters are rejoicing now. Have fun with your fancy Belmont Dracula and rat stealth.

The writing is typical video game, the dialogue feels more theatrical than natural. The story on the other hand is very good, and (learning from the first game) is not relegated to cutscenes only, it's always present. Things are really confusing at first, then get intriguing (still confusing) but by the end everything clicks godly. Whoever said it was worse than 1 is on drugs .

Seems "ok" to me, not good not great but certainly not bad.

But the ending does seem like it would put a damper on it since its very anticlimatic in my opinion.

The ending ending is.  It feels that it's lacking 2 minues more of closure. But the ending chapter is amazing.

One thing I liked is that every character is used for good, none of them is botched, hell, even the Chupacabras is lovely and developed. I'm in love with it d'awww.

Wrong.

I can't see how this game story wise could be part of the original canon without messing it up to hell and back.  Alucard alone ruins it, we won't even go into older characters, their relationships, and how vastly different they're done here.  So I agree, I would strangle someone at Konami if they tried.

The game is it's own reboot and gets to do vastly different things: it's better that way.  Steps on no one's toes who are fans of the older universe while Cox and his team gets to delight us with their intriguing retelling.  It doesn't need to be part if the older universe.

But on a different note:  am I the only one alarmed that all good reviews so far are only European?  Man, I really hope it scores well all around.  It really looks like a great game.
