Tried a lot of Touhou 17.5. Man it's bad. B.A.D.
The biggest problem is the awful controls. You cannot pull out one specific move as you want, they're too random, and you missed one step and bang. Ruined the current life. There's no regular jump, only an upward dash equals to high jump, binded along with forward jumps. That freakin' sucks. Not to mention several "spell cards" seems to be designed around regular jump in mind but there's simply no such bloody move in your moveset! What's wrong with the designers??
The next problem - It's a sort of boss rush-only game, while it looks like a 2D platformer there's no mid-stage minor enemies, if you treated it as fighting game instead there's no two-player VS mode like previous "official" offspring Touhou games focusing on one-on-one fighting. The result is a dumb combination that's so boring, and left only a bad taste afterwards. Obviously the game is either rushed or unfinished. The game's genre should be ironed out in the game's planning process. But in its current shape it clearly isn't.
I wonder what happens? The game has been delayed for roughly two years? Not worth it at all.
They really shouldn't release a game that bad in its current state, it's a disgrace to the already obscure Touhou community as a whole. If they ran out idea on 2D platforming, they really should outsource it to some one else who do care about 2D genre instead of creating this mess.
What will happen if in a universe Inti Creates and Touhou Project joining hands? Touhou Project never ran out of waifus while Inti Creates is famous for its love of imoutou suffering. A popular and actually good 2D platforming game could happen in that alternate universe?
