Positives- Leon and Chris FINALLY in a game together. Zombies and classic BOWs return. And the dark settings of of the city return.

Negatives- Looks to much like RE5 and looks far to flashy and "actiony" for a Resident evil title. needs alot  more horror rather than action.

And thats all I have to say...

cannot wait for it to get pushed back three or four times.

To your positives: I think it'd be funny if Chris and Leon don't even meet each other (Leon's in an American city called Tall Oaks, and Chris is in China).

To your negatives: There are (at least) three playable stories in the game according to some sources which I'm too lazy to cite. Leon's story emphasizes horror (for the old-school fans), and Chris's story emphasizes action (for the fans that joined with RE 4 and 5). Starkiller's (that's what I'm calling this new guy), well... I have no idea what his'll be about.

On another note: I think it's funny that Beards (the guy with Chris in the trailer) has no beard. Starkiller is speculated to be Alex Wesker (due to his injections and superhuman-like strength) and for some unexplained reason, they think the girl with Starkiller is Ashley (other speculations have her being Sherry).

Yea I noticed that Chris's part looked ALOT more action oriented while Leon's looks more akin to RE2 (which is great). The mystery guys's story seems to be trying to reach a "middle ground between the two I suppose. I guess I am just going to have to dread playing Chris's side of the story. Its going to be such a slap in the face to go from horror to a freaken action movie in a Resident Evil game. Chris is fighting Mercenaries, has a entire team with him, and has a FREAKEN TANK! Definitely going to hate his side of the game if its all about action.

Why the hell couldn't Capcom just make a game for "action" with Chris as the star and Leon the star of the horror one? That would be alot better than forcing the "new fans" who love the new style of Resident evl games to play through Leon's part of the game (horror) and force classic fans of the survival horror Resident Evil games to suffer through Chris's action packed adventure.

And on another note.

I think the mystery guy is Steve Burnside. Look at his hand during the trailer. It looks exactly like Steve's when he mutates in RECV. And he looks to be around the same age Steve would be around that time and he even has the same hair color.

I guess this is a chose your own poison kind of situation  but yeah I like the horror aspect more.

If it's multiple stories (a la Resident Evil 2), then just don't play the story you don't want to play. Besides, Chris is a member of a military. It kinda makes sense he'd have people with him. Besides, he said: "How many of my men died because of that BITCH?!?!?!" which probably means that his men are going to... well, die.

I think what the RE team is trying to do is not be like Dead Rising, and release multiple games just cuz someone wants to play as a certain character (DR2 for Chuck, and DR2:OtR for Frank). It's a waste to make two separate games for the characters when it's just as easy to put them in the same. Their stories intertwine in some way anyway.

Capcom's trying to cater to A) the fans of the classic games (RE1-3 and CV), and B) the fans of the action games (RE4 and 5). I honestly like both sides, so I ain't complainin'.

And on that, it was already confirmed there will be several characters, as well as co-op. Leon has his partner Helena, Chris has Beards, and Starkiller has "Ashley". Ada was confirmed to be playable later on. It was said there will be more characters.

As for Starkiller, I thought it was possible that it was Steve. That'd be nice, but I don't think it's likely.

1.You obviously missed my point. i was not simply saying Capcom should just make a game for separate characters. They should make a game for separate GAMEPLAY ASPECTS. Its obvious they are aiming for 2 different types of gameplay appeal in one game. Why make it a hassle for players to play though a part of the story they do not want to?

2.And sorry but the RE2 comparison seems unlikely since Capcom confirmed that the stories will "overlap" at somepoint which means that that all the stories will come together at some point which eliminates the option of just playing a story and avoiding the one you do not want to.

3.How is it "unlikely" that its not Steve but "likely" that it is Alex? we know next to nothing about Alex other than the fact that he is a Wesker child. And the injection thing seems to be grasping at straws IMO. I could point out a couple reasons why it could be steve such as

- His hand looks identical to Steve's when he mutates in RECV (don't believe me look it up).
- He looks to be around the same age Steve would be around that time (which is around 27)
- He has the same hair color that Steve has
- He apparently has experience with fighting BOWs and zombies judging by how he was talking in the trailer.
- He mentions his blood is important. Steve was confirmed to be "special" by Wesker and was shown to have some sort of immunity to the T Veronica virus. If the virus in this game is some form of a T Veronica variant virus then his blood could produce a antibody for it.

You see? I could name alot of reasons as to how this guy could be Steve. But the only argument I have seen for Alex is the "injection stuff" which could easily just be Steve injecting himself with something so he doesn't mutate (which is evidenced by the hand).

To your 1: Forgive me for missing your point. I do miss details of arguments sometimes.

To your 2: Just because they intertwine in some way doesn't mean the characters will actually meet. While it is very possible, they are on separate parts of the world.

To your 3: Never once did I personally say it was Alex, dudelaw. I only mentioned earlier that it was speculated by fans, not by me. Don't go sounding so critical before actually taking into account what I'm saying. It's far more likely to be Steve, but it's far more speculated to be Alex. Though I do notice most people don't notice the things you pointed out. Good eye there, man. That's stuff I didn't even catch.

Leon's part looks sweet, like Resident Evil's 1 through 4 good. Something tells me that his segments will be the best parts of the game.

Chris's part reminds me of RE5, not a good sign.

Mystery dude(Alex Wesker?) part I am mixed on.

Until I see more I will remain cautionly optomistic cause RE5 really burned me, though RE Revelations does seem like a glimmer of hope that Capcom can still do it.

Until now, I didn't realize there was a Resident Evil 6 in the works.  I assumed fans were referring to Operation Raccoon City when they mentioned RE6.  I'm somewhat interested in this, certainly much more than in Operation Raccoon City.  RE5 just didn't appeal to me like RE 1-4.

That's definitely Ashley towards the end.  It looks just like her, and the voice actress is the same.

Hit the nail on the head man. I agree 100%. Let's hope new info arises that makes the game look more pleasing. Until then I'll be rocking out with revelations on my 3DS

It just keeps going more action than horror, i too miss the old action horror from the series, Leon's story is looking good, but Chri's........just to flashy. R.E.5 was having very nice graphics, but it didn't have that dark mood and it was to bright. Now the downloadable story inside the spencer mansion with Jill and Chri's, that was real cool and scary. I wish that the R.E.6 was more like that, than action.

Pffttt...
Capcom trying to cater to both parts of the fanbase at the same time, instead of making just another action game in vein of RE5, and people complain about that?!
It seems the soul of the "fan" is a mistery afterall. Mistery that mostly doesn't make sense.

Pffttt back at you.

I never said that they did not have to try to cater to both the fans.

And they even have a "action oriented" Resident Evil title coming out in a month or 2 which is called Resident Evil Operation Racoon City.

They have already "catered" to the action side IMO. So why the hell could they just simply leave the action stuff alone with RE6? Or atleast make another action one that is separate from the other one. It should not be a "chore" to play through a part of a game that you do not want to. By adding something that classic fans do not like to part of the story and something that new fans know nothing/don't care about only makes it a hassle to have to go through the entire game.

Sometimes I swear you just go around the forums to TRY and start arguments...

Acording to IGN, each "story" (Leon, Chris, Etc.) is something you play through entirely from beginning to end without shifting to another. Though you would obviously be missing out on part of the game, it seems quite possible for you to entirely skip Chris's portion of the game if you so choose. But I'm betting you'd feel compelled to play it just because it's there and then say how much you don't like it being there... Essentially giving Capcom no way to win here. ;D

Personally I think it's very smart, they're giving content for all different fans of the series. In theory, it makes a lot of sense at pleasing everyone (or most everyone, you can't ACTUALLY please everyone when there's this many people involved). The only way to know for sure though is when the game gets closer to release and we get a lot more info.

Oh, and IGN also said the blonde girl in the trailer was Sherry Birkin.

My big question for this game though is the timeline. Supposedly it's 10 years after the Raccoon City incident, which would place it at 2008, I believe. RE5 was 2009, so is this game actually before that game? I'm hoping this isn't the case and this gets cleared up later.

Guys. There is a part of every game that the player does not want to play. Me for example?

Castlevania Circle of the Moon: The Underground Catacombs area.
Resident Evil 5: The whole Savanna stage
Resident Evil 2: A lot of the later parts of the game.

So what are you gonna do? Deal with it. They're catering to both fans by making one game. While I admit that ORC is going to be pure action, with maybe a hint or two of horror, Resident Evil 6 is a main series title. A lot of the people who call themselves "true" fans love the horror of the old games but despise the action of the new games. A lot of the newer fans love the action and despise how the older games were executed and can't get into them. There are people who don't mind what they do with the game, and as long as its fun they'll play it.

@DarkPrinceAlucard
I looked at the video at the part where it shows his hand, like you said, and uh...

Well, he's wearing a glove. How did you analyze his hand?

Yeah, those are both from the same few seconds.

I'd bet that the scaled-claw hand thing has more to do with the graphics than actually being a hand. And if you look closely, you'll see veins sticking out of his thumb that I highlighted as well as on his head/neck area sticking out. They kinda resemble when Wesker was stabbed in the chest by the PG67A/W and glared at Chris.

Then again though, they also resemble the veins sticking out everywhere on Steve's body when he died in Darkside Chronicles.

To state why I thought it was unlikely to bring back Steve: Yeah, Wesker did say there was something special about him. But think about it. After 10 years of events (story-wise), Steve was never mentioned again (except when Leon was talking about the events of CV in Darkside Chronicles). I personally think (we all got our own opinions) it's pointless to bring back Steve, as much as I liked him as a character. It's almost as good as bringing back Carlos, Billy, or any of the Outbreak main characters. The only one listed that's likely to come back is Carlos, since it can be presumed he continued to be in some kind of military after the UBCS and Raccoon City.

This not only highly appeals to my tastes for the game, but is also reminiscent of the multiple scenarios in RE2, which rocks.

If I could, I'd only buy the Leon part. (Chris's part looks fun but I don't play RE for blowing shit up.)

This looks pretty promising. I've always enjoyed the series overall but didn't really care much for RE5...just didn't grab my attention as much as the others. And plotwise, the final 15 minutes jumped the shark pretty hard. This, though...this looks like somewhat of a return to form, and I look forward to hearing more.

Strangely enough, I've yet to play through RE5. While I don't mind the heavy action added to the RE series to make it fresh (RE4 is probably one of my favorite games of all time), I hated how in RE5 they seemed to put you in a situation even more action oriented than RE4 but still had you using the slow ass turning clunky control style from the original.

Anyhoo, even though I haven't played 5, I still might get this eventually.

Like the old school horror aspect returning, and from what I've read, the mystery character might be Hunk..

Oh yeah, capcom is on the ball!

RE is trying to be the next Megaman.

Only thing is that True fans will only be playing Revelations (because its like, y'know RE).

Does anyone else miss the 90's where games were distinctively different?
Where everything DOESN'T have to be a First or Third person shooter.

Add the 80's on top of that and you got the good ol' days where

A) [80's] All action games had to be a side-scroller beat-em-up and/or platformer
B) [90's] The game had to be 3D in order to be considered "not primitive"

Reviving this dead topic and double posting to bring you...

The new story trailer to RE6!

http://youtu.be/ASWBc_z8iik (http://youtu.be/ASWBc_z8iik)

Things to note:

-Ada Wong has been confirmed to be in the game.
-The "Ashley/Sherry girl" has been confirmed to indeed be Sherry Birkin.
-"Starkiller/Steve" has been confirmed to be a new(?) character named Jake Muller, who is the son of Albert Wesker.
-The "bitch" that Chris was referring to in the previous trailer was Ada Wong.
-Beards Nevence's name was retranslated into Piers Nivans.
-The game's release date was lifted from November 20, 2012 to October 2, 2012.

New trailer looks neat. What do you all think?

Game looks pretty. I'm kind of sad there isn't a character named Beards, because it'd be a perfect match with all the explosions.

Every other Captivate thing was kind of meh. DmC's trailer was entertaining for keeping the cheese of the other games and not taking itself SUPER CEREAL like I thought it was going to, but I have yet to see any detailed gameplay impressions or videos, which is worrying. It seems like the entirety of its promotion has been empty boasting and chest puffing without any concrete details to back it up.

The game's graphics ARE gorgeous. Some of the best I've seen, too.
I got so pissed when I found out they were naming him Piers instead of Beards...

DmC looks pretty damn awesome, if you ask me. Naked Dante was a bit much, but still.

So... anyone play the demo for this game yet (the few of you that bought Dragon's Dogma for Xbox 360)? I think it's ridiculously fun. You get a little part of each of the three campaigns in the game.

Leon/Helena's demo is pretty slow and focuses on the horror elements of the scenario. While it is great, it's probably the most boring part of the demo, since you literally do nothing but walk for 90% of it. Enemies don't show up until the very last room, and as soon as you enter the next door, the demo ends.

Chris/Pier's demo focus on the action and shooting aspects of the game. It is definitely the most fun part of the demo. With all the bullets and the explosions and BOWs, it's very hectic and the only one of the three that shows the splitting up.

Jake/Sherry's demo focuses around a boss fight, and lemme say, it's pretty awesome. It starts off with you running away from the boss, and after getting away from him, you fight off a couple of infected Mercs, only to have a showdown with him in a warehouse. Jake's hand-to-hand fighting is definitely awesome.

Thought I'd share that with ya'll. Anyone else play it yet?

Does anyone else miss the 90's where games were distinctively different?
Where everything DOESN'T have to be a First or Third person shooter.

I really don't mind RE having this format of play. It's much easier for me then the older style of play. If the original RE games used the movement controls that were in Silent Hill then they'd be a little easier to navigate, instead of having to turn to a specific direction and then pushing up on the pad to move forward all the time.

The healthbar is split in boxes and you only can regenerate the health of that box and its slow enough to not be that relevant. Try again.

regenerating heath no matter how slow and non relevant it may be is just a flat out dumb thing for a game that is "supposedly" a Survival horror or "dramatic horror" as Capcom calls it now.

Its just something that never should have a place in a Resident Evil game if you ask me.

Really does take away the "horror" aspect when you not only have powerful weapons, overpowered melee moves,a partner, and regenerating heath.

Seems like they are purposely trying to make this game as none horror oriented as they possibly can if you ask me.

You have six health boxes, and health only regenerates for one box. It's very slow, and you're highly likely to take more damage in the time it takes for the box to regenerate half-way.

As well, there are several less healing items from what I've played. Same goes for ammo (at least in Leon's part of the demo, but he only fights like... two enemies).

You have pretty standard weapons (mind you, the demo is automatically set at easy difficulty), the melee moves are balanced by a stamina gauge (unlike in ORC), your partner is about as useful as in RE5, and I already talked about the health.

As for the horror orientation, Leon's campaign offered a jump scare or two. Chris' employed the "holy crap, what do I do now?" tactic, and Jake's employed the "holy shit he's after me" tactic.

As I said before, each scenario focuses around a different feel. Leon's around the horror, Chris' around the action, and Jake's around the thrill and tension.

Sorry but NONE of what you said has eased my concerns.

As I said earlier, it does not matter (to me at least) how slow and small the regenerative heath thing is, the fact that its even there in the first place rubs me the wrong way as a longtime Resident Evil fan.

And it really does not matter if the partner is as useful as they where in RE5, having a partner there period really does ease the tension since you have someone there to back you up.

The same thing applied to RE5 and I am sure it will apply here as well.

The only Resident Evil game that pulled the whole partner thing off correctly was RE0 and that was because a lot of times in the game you partner could actually be LEFT behind or you 2 would become separated and you would have to play a good deal of the game yourself.

And the weapons are hardly "standard" during Chris's part of the game.

But whatever, this is all my opinion/concerns on the matter and sadly it will not be changed until I actually get my hands on this game.

@regenerative health
I dunno how I could explain it to you to make it any better, anyway. I find no problem with it, but I respect your opinion as well.

@partner
You actually get split up with your partner plenty of times in RE6. In the demo though, it only happens once.

@Chris' weapons
Yes they are. They're relatively weak. The only reason they seem powerful is because of the lowered difficulty of the demo.

I'm aware they're you're opinions, and I'm not trying to force mine off on you, if that's how I came off. We all got our own opinions, and I personally like the game a lot, and I think of it as the best one I've played gameplay-wise so far, and I'm a longtime fan of the series (RE1 on PS1 was the first game I've ever played).

Regenerating Health? Really Capcom?

I'm feeling this way for different reasons though. Namely, a stupid amount of QTEs, a horrific amount of screen tearing (lols, these two were what Capcom learned from Western developers), a lot of on-rails shit and no real indication that the game will turn away from the super military "I'M NOT GONNA LEAVE U BEHIND" feeling of RE5. A small amount of regenerating health is by far the least of my concerns.

Don't get me wrong, the game looks like it'll be fun in its own right, but it's not Resident Evil anymore. Still waiting on whatever survival horror thing Shinji Mikami is working on at Bethesda to fill that gap.
Title: Re: Resident Evil 6

With QTE are you talking about the "zombie" fend stuff that has been there since RE3 just that without showing the "Press X to not die"?

Oh and the demo is locked on easy btw

And Shinji Mikami is the one who turned RE in this direction, just sayin'

I dont played it yet, since my PC is very old and I dont have a PS3 nor a 360, they launched this demo for what console? They launched it for PC too? What scenarios they included in ths demo? It atleast feels more like a survival horror than RE4 and RE5?

I believe it was released only for PS3 and Xbox. You can play the following scenarios in the demo:

Leon and Helena 's scenario - Very atmospheric and the most suspenseful. Resembles RE4 and 5.
Chris and Piers' scenario - The environments looks very dull. You fight against Majini-like army guys. It resembles Operation Raccoon City the most.
Jake and Sherry's scenario - Takes place in China (I think). Pretty creepy looking level but the gameplay is the same as the previous scenario.

Thanks for sharing it, it only shows that even when its almost impossible, Capcom find a way to do the things wrong. They need to learn with the past, not forget it.

Post by: KyleVoakes on September 24, 2012, 08:23:11 PM
Am I the only person thinking that Resident Evil 6 is getting too harsh of a criticism prior to it's release? Sure, Resident Evil 5 has it's flaws, and the direction of the series since RE4 is sorta topsy-turfy from it's roots, but let's think about this for a minute. Sure, the horror is gone, but I think Resident Evil had more to do in the Survival aspect of the genre than being scary.

Survival, Not Horror?
For me, with my own experiences, Resident Evil was terrifying with the limitations of ammo, health, and inventory spaces. There was the reality of wasting too much ammo in a playthrough, only to run dry during a boss fight and be forced to start a new game (something that occurred to me in Code Veronica). There was always the possibility of running out of inventory space before finding a key item (which happened on more than one occasion in RE2), forcing you to backtrack to an item chest to clear the unnecessaries. But worst of all, because you had such limited inventory space, you had to lighten your weapons for the sake of freeing up room for health pick-ups or extra supplies. During my Chris playthrough in RE1, I found that you could only carry one gun, one kind of ammo, one health item, and one key. The other two were for picking up goodies. Six slots isn't enough. THIS was what Resident Evil specialized in. Silent Hill was always more "Horror" in the Survival Horror genre because it never really included survival elements. Puzzles and monsters were cool, but with infinite inventory space and stackable Health Drinks everywhere, there was no way Silent Hill is "Survival". This being said, am I angry that the games have taken the action route? Sure I am. I want a game to kick my ass. I enjoy the accomplishment of challenge and restrictions. Surviving with what you have at your disposal. It's an objective to conquer, and that is why Resident Evil was terrifying. Not in it's atmosphere, but in the core gameplay mechanics. You were weak because you were limited in terms of sight, supplies, and there weren't any checkpoints. Once you die, you lose the progress that was made after the last save, which itself was a necessary item to gather!

Zombies, Monsters, and Evolution of Gameplay
Looking back at how the original games were made, Zombies sure were amazing back then. Totally not ruined by countless uninspired films and classless Dead Rising titles. But what was Resi's competition during the PS1 era? Silent Hill? There was only one game during the original RE trilogy. House of the Dead? That was only available in Arcades at that time. A game of those caliber were only comparable to other monster titles such as Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy 7. Nowadays, what is RE's competition? Dead Space, Gears of War, FEAR, Left 4 Dead, Amnesia, and Uncharted. It couldn't remain as it was back in the original Playstation era. Granted, one of the best RE games is RE0, which I think perfected the whole Co-op in a Survival Horror game, but let's be real, the gameplay needed to be updated to benefit the new hardware. The change of the game's enemies and atmosphere, in this regard, makes sense if you consider the way games are evolving into more action set-pieces. See, like a virus, Resident Evil needed to evolve in order to remain relevant. The lack of evolution is what ruined RE5. Remember how bad the reaction was upon realizing you couldn't aim and walk? That was one of the final staples of the classic RE gameplay mechanics, and it got rusty after RE4 set the bar for future games. Basically, the industry took RE4 and improved around it's design, so when RE5 came out, all of the other third person shooters had succeeded past what the fourth RE game set during it's release. The industry is always changing, so RE had to change with it.

So gone are the zombies. On a story perspective, it's disappointing; however, looking at the industry as a whole, it makes more sense. In the wake of games like Halo, Killzone, Call of Duty, Gears of War, God of War, Uncharted... These are 10/10 games, and we're not even getting started on other Zombie and Horror games. Resident Evil has always been AAA in terms of quality. Again, the reason why RE5 was crap was because it ignored it's adaption to the new specs. It failed to evolve into next-gen. Like a virus, it needs to adapt into it's new surroundings. In an industry filled with Army games and epic set-piece action titles, Resident Evil can't be a brooding, atmospheric experience anymore if it wants to maintain the AAA quality spot. If it has to remain relevant amongst the CoDs, GoWs (Take your pick), and Left 4 Deads, it needs to be more action-paced. So like a virus, the actual plague in the games evolved too. It no longer became another "Zombie Game". The whole franchise is devoted to biological warfare. Biohazard, as it is originally titled, is what the franchise is all about. That's the theme. So why is it a crime to abandon zombies in Resident Evil if the core element of a virus has remained? It improves itself, it adapts to new environments. Slow, clunky undead was fine during tank controls and stiff aiming, but now the aiming is much better, the hardware is dramatically improved. Slow moving zombies are not scary anymore, and enemies need to pose more of a threat in order to compete with the Chimera, Strogg, Locust and Terrorists. So when the gamers become smarter, so should the enemies. So should the virus.

In summary, Resident Evil 6 is being unfairly judged as a "strict Horror Survival" game when it has already moved beyond it's golden age. It had to sacrifice the classic formula to take advantage of the new hardware specs and to rival it's competition; because of that, the old school atmosphere had to suffer. RE moved with the industry, and became more action oriented because that is the kind of games that gets the best ratings. Could you imagine how it could have been worse? Look at Silent Hill for a perfect example. SH has been sluggishly decaying because it has been stuck to it's roots for a decade. After so many installments, how long does it take before it loses it's sense of self-identity? When it tries to cling onto the classic feel while struggling to keep close to the rest of the industry? The only recent time it actually improved was when they took out combat altogether in Shattered Memories, and that game is criminally underrated because of it.

Whew, that was a mind-boggle of a post. If you found some flaws in my examination of the franchise, or if you disagree and have much better arguments, I'd love to hear it. Afterall, this was all typed off the top of my head without much thought into translating my perspective on the issue. I may have missed a few things, or I might be absolutely wrong on something I included. But hey, if you think I'm onto something? Goodie!

Really good review for being "Off the top of your head"  :)  I can definitely see the argument you proposed here and in many ways, makes a lot of sense. RE was never strictly about Zombies. Just as it's Japanese name implies; Bio hazard is what it's all about. Be it viruses or parasites these are all biological threats that fit the universal theme of the game itself. I've not yet played the demo for RE6, however when the game does come out I will pick it up. As I had stated before I first got into the series playing RE4. And for me that is the type of RE gameplay I enjoy and as you had stated, it was necessary to evolve in that particular direction in order to remain competitive or to survive.

Well, you said interesting things, to me they did a right move in RE: Revelations for 3DS, but did a wrong one in RE: Operation Racoon City, I've played it a bit and disliked these items that can make zombies attack zombies and all, also with all these guys shooting you to me its more like Call of Duty lol

I dont played RE: Revelations but I have seen some videos and it have the "atmosphere", the "horror", not like the first ones, but they did it right. If RE6 remains faithful to that I will like it.

Ok, to keep the General RE thread more general and less RE6 specific I'll be posting this in here (though it's technically relevant in both).

RE6 launch day today! My copy should be arriving from Amazon today (Amazon prime pre-orders ftw!) and I'll be playing this sucker tonight!

For those who are picking this game up, who got it for PS3? How many went for the Anthology edition over the regular? (I went Anthology so I can own my third version of RE4 finally ) Do you have anyone you plan on playing through the campaign with? (my wife and I are excited to go through it)

Also GameTrailers.com has released their review on it, pretty favorable (even IGN gave it a 7.9) with a 8.8 overall (http://www.gametrailers.com/reviews/c3rlf7/resident-evil-6-review (http://www.gametrailers.com/reviews/c3rlf7/resident-evil-6-review)). So that's cool. Excited to get home tonight and start this game up!

Tried the demo. Shit is way too dark (a flashlight would be awesome, guys). Noticed no significant differences between the characters outside of locale and stuff that happens when you hammer the melee. I hate being knocked over all the goddamn time, and how every action requires more and more button prompts, stick waggling and QTEs. People give RE4 shit for introducing these, but those are far, far less obnoxious in their implementation. I know RE6 is supposed to be a departure from the old formula, but while playing I just kept thinking about playing the myriad of much more enjoyable TPS games out there.

It really feels the way I thought ORC would. RE5 and Mercs 3D are way more fun thus far.

Went through the first chapter of Leon's campaign last night and it was pretty neat. A lot of it plays out like the demo for Leon's stage, but the added bonus of an extra player was nice. I found myself lacking ammo and healing items more often than not (which was nice) and enjoyed it. It's a little weird going back to not upgrading weapons, so hopefully the skill point system works out nicely (skills points are rewarded for headshot kills, sweet melee counters and defeating tough enemies).

Overall impressions so far is that I'm enjoying it a little more than RE5, it's no RE4 (gold standard, imo) so we'll see how my impressions change as I trudge through the undead.  ;D

I've started last night Chris mode, made it to chapter 2 and i can say by far that it's the worst Resident Evil scenario i have played at the entire series and RE6. It's like playing a third person shooter game and also healing items are almost non existence. If i didn't have cleared Leon's mode first and having bought and upgrade some skills, i doubt i would have made it to chapter 2, since you are forced to play almost the entire first chapter without giving you any healing item, just with a life bar.......

Well I've finished RE6, and I have to say I enjoyed the game a lot. Not quite as good as RE4, but I liked it more than RE5. It is very action heavy, though, with a far larger melee system (seeing as there's a dedicated melee button and everything). I found Leon's Campaign to be the hardest by far, I had far more deaths during it. It also seemed to be the longest, but maybe that was just me dying so much. It also stands out as having some of the more memorable moments, and it has a whole horde of enemies that never even show up in Chris's or Jake's campaigns, which also makes it stand out. Chris and Jake share many of the same enemies (and even have sections of the game that are exactly the same), so it certainly has a bit of "been there, done that" feel between those two. The decision to give Leon his own enemies is quite interesting to me, and really makes his game stand out a lot from the other two characters.

And yes, Leon's campaign focuses a lot more on traditional "scary" things. More savage enemies that swarm you, darker locations (I don't recall a section ever taking place during the day in his campaign), and some more fantasical places that he ends up. Chris and Jake however are very action focused (and even some stealth in Jake's case), mostly battling gun-toting foes. Overall, I feel like splitting the story into three perspectivs hurt the narrative a bit, and the story feels a bit lacking to me. There's also plenty of larger-than-life moments that seem straight out of a michael bay movie, complete with things exploding for no reason (apparently every time a car flips it explodes in a giant fire ball, good to know).

Still, I must say I had a lot of fun with this game, despite its shortcomings. I can't say I regret playing it.

Got to finally playing Leon Campaign last night with mah bro. Local Co-op is... different compared to the online Demo sessions I had previously. One of the biggest, and probably best inclusion to local split-screen is that you do NOT share ammo or healing. Each person has to pick their own stuff, so what Kurt (brother) and I have been doing was actually performing "Ammo Checks" after difficult moments. Other than that, I'm really impressed with the game as a RE inclusion. The entire first chapter in Leon's story was a phenomenal experience, with a couple (subtly spoken) "Oh, damn..." moments thrown in there.

What do I think of the game as one of the "die-hard fans?" I'll be honest and say that RE6 (At least Leon's Campaign) is exactly how I remember the classic RE was. Every now and then I'd empty my supply of handgun bullets entirely, conserving all the good guns for harder fights. There's a huge absence of healing items, which must also be conserved, and at some points in the game it was better to flee than to fight. Even with this survivalist element being present, I still find enjoyment reverse-DDTing zombies from behind. I dunno how this game got so many poor reviews, but so far there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. The plot isn't getting on my nerves either, not like in RE5 or Diablo 3. Actually, the development of the plot is pretty damn good so far, but I haven't even finished one of the campaigns, and I've played it for 4-5 hours already!

One thing I'm not proud of is the Skill system. I think it's a tad unnecessary and it only provides a little bit of hand-holding, but not arm-grabbing assistance like in Amateur. You could still get killed easily, even with the Skills purchased.

At the moment, I'm on chapter 3 in Leon's campaign, and I cannot wait to get started on Chris's, which I'm saving for last.

Its a shame that they still puts DLC in the game disc, DLC doesnt mean Downloaded Content? Where is the "downloaded" part in that?

No... Not again on disk DLC are you kidding me? Please tell it's a trick since it's October.

I thought it's pretty good myself.  Although IMO i dont think they are gonna top RE2 in my book.  But i do like how they split the campaign styles up, as mentioned before the Leon story is more old school whereas the Chris story is similar to RE4-RE5.  I beat Leon's campaign in about 5-6hrs and only played the 1st chapter of Chris' but so far im pretty impressed.  Anyone mess with Jake's campaign yet?

I've finished up Leon's campaign and right now I'm on Chris's. Once that's done then I'll check out Jake's.

I started playing RE6.

Quote
Stop dressing up exactly like the random enemies in this game and fucking with my aim, Jake.
Stop playing up the whole "Freakishly calm guy in dramatic situations" trope, Jake.  Seriously, there's a difference between knowing how to keep your cool and taking it to the point where you display no hint of surprise or worry whatsoever and act in ways no real human being from the planet Earth could ever relate to.  That crap always really annoys me because it's basically the author trying to make a character super-popular with 13-year-olds through forced 2edgy4me.  Your biggest reaction to your entire mercenary platoon violently transforming into monsters and trying to kill you with knives is "Hmm, well I guess this isn't quite a normal day on the job."  Were you expecting that to happen?
Stop lingering in the back shooting at god knows what when I'm trying to get out of the goddamned area, Jake.
Stop getting in the way of my snowmobile, Jake.
Stop being a featured character in a game with clunky vehicle controls when I just finished playing GTA5, Jake.  What's the point of putting reverse controls on this thing when I can't turn the camera to actually see what's behind me?
Stop being bald in the snow, Jake.  Your ears are going to get frostbite like that.
Stop being useless and help me find more item stuff, Jake.
Stop killing things with that swinging DDT animation, Jake.  Wrestling is fake.
Stop trying to turn this campaign into a contrived soap opera, Jake.  Sherry's La Femme Nikita / Viper Season 1 thing is doing fine without you.
Stop saying lines that could potentially cause DC Comics to bring a trademark lawsuit against Capcom, Jake.

ya know, now I'm kind of glad I killed him off.

edit:  fuck I didn't realize this came out an entire year ago.
