Most of the post-SotN games have had lots of succubi floating around, but I think this is the only official example of an incubus in the series. Does he ever... do incubus stuff? Or is the fact he's an incubus completely insubstantial to the plot (i.e. he could easily be any other type of demon or a Shaft knock-off) and he was only designed in a hyper-idealized bishounen way to cater to the female fanbase?

The fact that he's an inccubus only becomes useful when he has to manipulate people through their dreams (and one of them is male. I should add, if I'm not mistaken).
This aside, he could be any other creature. He never does true "inccubus stuff."

Oh yes, I really enjoyed it as well :) Lyudmil and Alucard are great together! Sigh, if only he had accepted that flower garland...

All in all? It can be summed up to, "Dude, Alucard's not such a great guy." with Maria responding with, "You're wrong!"
Basically any other generic anime manipulation that fails.

Alucard is the type of guy that seems designed to be alone. "Keeping his cursed bloodline for himself" is a big part of his character, and he appears to be naturally detached from matters of love and affection. Even if Alucard/Maria is implied by the game's ending, I think pairing both is very weak and detracts from what Alucard really is, so ya not alone in this.

I have to agree but it seems to be something in Japanese anime, games and all their media to make this: the power of love can change you piece of crap :( sorry but it's true hahahaha
And don't get me wrong I always loved even preferred Japanese games, animes and stuff but as I got older I kind of tried to avoid all this fan service stuff. It's not like it offends me I just avoid and try to enjoy the close to reality ones. But for me Maria just saw dat incredible beautiful man and had to give him her virginity ASAP and that's all there is! Without her Alucard life would be the same.
