it shouldn't be modernized but I think they will add some guns in there anyway.

but we certainly don't want CV 1999 to end up like Operation Darkness, although that theme was cool for that game alone.    ;D

as long as it doesn't follow a fad like cotm that felt like konami was combining yu-gi-oh with castlevania being that card games were popular at the time

I loved the DSS system.  It wasn't like yugioh at all.  If you through down in a card match with Dracula that would be one thing.  But just because yugioh is dumb doesn't mean you can't do magical cards in a cool way.

Van Helsing (I know we've moved on from that) was reasonable, apart from the horrible wide-eyed rasp effect that they put on Dracula when he was about to bite Anna. I though Dracula and his Brides turning into those bat monsters was quite good, though.

The 1992 film was also good, but on repeated viewings you start to notice it suffers from mediocre accents, erratic characterisation (was Van Helsing intelligent, insane, or noble?), and Keanu Reeves.

Have you read the book?  That was 100% what Stoker was going for.

Right. Well, I must say, he is the coolest character in the whole book.

No, I haven't (not in its entirety, from cover to cover). Fair enough.

Reeves wasn't THAT bad, but when you compare him to the Jonathan Harkers seen in the BBC's 1977 adaptation and in 1979's Nosferatu the Vampyre, you do at times feel he missed the point somewhat. Or rather, he only hit the point by accident - he looks so uncomfortable in that role, it comes across as Harker's awkwardness and fear in Dracula's castle.

Julius should look like the former CVDF user, Insanitist. (If any of you veterans of the forum remember the photo of him with a whip, sunglasses, and black coat.)
