The game itself tells you he was a monster created by mortal hands, who was imprisoned in the Prison of Eternal Torture because it nearly ended the world with it's uncontrollable power. Where it was, tortured and weakened. Skinned alive, cut in half, and one of his arms cut off, resulting in what we fight. As well as that mask/helmet on his face. Then he was (or before the torture) hanged on hooks to support him, and stayed there for God knows how long, eventually forgotten by all, as his name implies.


Now, who or what defeated him is the real mystery. Maybe Walter had a hand in it. Who knows. But if Leon was able to defeat him, then its not a stretch to think he was somehow defeated by those who created him. Im going to guess he was put in the castle, not the castle around him.

Im also going to think we are not supposed to really delve too deeply into it.

What would have made LoI better is if they added more areas, had more platforming like the ones for N64, and the whip swinging like LoS.  They could have also given Walter a second form, but three battles back to back could be pushing it.

Also, Leon is the epitome of what someone in his circumstance should be.  He lost someone, but he didn't let his grief consume him.  He grieved, but moved on.  Mathias did the exact opposite.

umm Walter actually had a second form.

It was during his "Big Bang attack" where he shoots the huge blast that covers the area.

For a brief moment he turns into a demon looking creature and shoots the blast.

I know he doesn't stay in it long but it is a second form.

Walter's form, when he does that giant area blast attack, is sorta a giant red bat. Looks pretty cool.

It was sorta like how Dracula has his monster form too. (and I assume Alucard does as well, judging by his gargoyle petrified form)

The graphics of castlevania is the best game i ever played, the blood on this game is like the same amount as real life pretty much. The bad guys are very awsome, the bosses of the level is the best part of the game.
