I was just thinking about Soul Edge (from the Soul series) and how it tends to tempt various fighters, even those of good moral quality, into using it and becoming slaves to it. So I figured this chart of a few of the more notable main characters and how I feel they would react upon being given a chance to use it (let's just say they find it lying around without a wielder). Doubles as a humor piece (probably giving the word "humor" a little too much credit here).
Leon: Destroys it (and the night) as completely as he can. Leaves a message to his descendants about it, just in case it comes back.
Trevor: Destroys it and locks the pieces away with a fancy spell (presumably to keep Grant from stealing them for cash).
Hector: Transforms it into a harmless bunny.
Christopher: Ignores it as it's not actively harming anyone.
Soleiyu: Uses it, becomes the next Nightmare. NOW Christopher destroys it.
Simon: Destroys it, realizes it will eventually return. He waits.
Juste: Purifies it, leaving it just a sword with some decent stats.
Richter: Uses it, but destroys it when he realizes what it is trying to do with him.
Cornell: Growls at it, and eventually destroys it.
Reinhardt Schneider: Has immense difficulty finding it because the lighting is finicky from dusk to dawn, decides against using it, and instead sells it to Renon for cash.
Carrie: Destroys it without a second thought.
Shanoa: Shatters it, then takes the glyph it inexplicibly leaves behind, not realizing the glyph is still Soul Edge. Slowly succumbs to corruption. Becomes the new Nightmare.
Johnny Morris: Uses it, unaware of the risks until it is too late. Ends up the new Nightmare.
Jonathan Morris: Picks it up, but switches to something cooler as soon as he finds it.
Charlotte: Studies it, and eventually has it buried on consecrated ground after permanently submerging it in a watertight casket filled with holy water, and has the church assign a 24/7/365 small army to guard it. She eventually comes back, has it melted down, the slag cooled with MORE holy water, and added to a clay mixture which is then molded into something utterly useless, then reburied as before. She's done her research and isn't about to take any damn chances.
Julius: Plays it safe and locks it in a Solar Eclipse, laws of physics be damned.
Soma Cruz: Destroys it and absorbs its soul using the Power of Dominance. 50/50 chance of corruption contingent on Mina's survival.
Alucard: Uses it for a while as it's a pretty good Infinity -1 Sword, but then destroys it once he accomplishes 300% Map Completion with a glitch and gets the Crissaegrim. Stats don't matter when you can strike 10,000 times a second.
Gabriel Belmont: Uses the HELL out of the thing, becomes the next Nightmare with great enthusiam, then destroys it a thousand years later after a series of random and increasingly contrived events and coincidences causes him to reach the epitome of villainous angst and learn a confusing aesop involving the value of family (we guess?) while arguing with Patrick Stewart, who wants it for himself. In this gritty reboot, Soul Edge is voiced by Jason Isaacs.
Just something I was thinking about.
Basically, they treat it about how they treat Dracula.
