But that was my point...
as I said it was a joke game. But the staff may have had it in mind that there were a line of Belmont's  (not all Belmont's but some) Way back at the start in 1986.
So it may have never been officially recognised by the cannon, but it does  push more to the fact that they always thought that at some point there was a Line Of Simons, and then In Akumajō Dracula / SCV4  they may have just wanted to  go for it, but it could be a remake,  But with famous Lines it is very common to call ones self after a great member, oh could be like a  vampire hunter name, sort of like confirmation name, the possibilities are endless.

I of Couse have my own Akumajō Dracula TimeLine. ;)

When the series is as played out as Castlevania currently is, meticulously crafted headcanons and fan theories are all we have left.

So yes.

Absolutely!
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.
