What are your hopes for the Nintendo Switch? (if any)

Okay, so the Wii U was a bit of a letdown...

I didn't buy a PS4 or Xbox...In truth, though, I was fine with that at first. Nintendoland, for example, was great, and fun enough that my wife actually joined in and smashed through and "Mastered" all of the levels to Metroid Blast...that was crazy fun, and really highlighted the strengths of using the Wii Pad in conjunction with the TV screen...

But not too many titles out there could do the same. I can understand why 3rd party developers were scared, the possibility of using 2 screens at once had great possibilities, but few managed to succeed or even try at it. (Affordable Space Adventures did a great job of trying, though...)

Anyways, was just browing through some news a few days ago, and saw that Dragonquesti VIII was redone for 3DS, and realized just what it is that I want with the switch--full backward compatibility with all portable titles. It really stinks that I can't download and play DQ VIII on the big screen...I want to buy it, I want to play it...but can we get Nintendo to recognize that if they are trying to market a systems as both for the home AND on-the-go, you need to make ALL of your portable titles available as well is the ones designed specifically for the new console...

I am a sucker for nostalgia, so I really want full access to the games that highlight all the strengths (and weaknesses/limitations) of past iterations.

Thoughts?

Nintendo needs to get in touch with way more third party developers. It was the reason why the NES and SNES were such great consoles back in the day because of the variety of unique titles.

I'm just hoping for more titles.
Since it's gonna be region free (THANKS!), hello~ Japanese games! ♥

But I won't buy the switch unless I see a game that I can't pass that isn't available on the PS4.

So I take it Zelda won't cut it for you, eh?

So far I'm not exactly taken with Breath of the Wild, though. But it would be very nice in theory to take good HD games on the run and play on the big screen...I hated, for example that Dracula X Chronicles was only for PSP...that game was begging to be played on the big screen...

4th gen Pokemon for Switch and AoS/DoS sequel Castlevania for Switch (With Kojima Art).
I won't have any more wishes. Just these.

Yeah. I'm not a diehard Zelda fan.

DXC on the big screen would be glorious. Sigh... It will never happen....

Yeah. I'm not a diehard Zelda fan.

Even so Shiroi, the open worldness and freedom of this Zelda particularly is starting to look as open as FFXV ;)

DXC on the big screen would be glorious. Sigh... It will never happen....

DXC can be bought on Japanese PSN store through PSV. It would be recognized as PSP games. (The PSN account should be a Japanese one then It's Japanese region and can buy Japanese version of the game on JP PSN store) I don't know the situation  of US PSN store much. And then with PSVTV/PSTV it can be played on big screen (sort of, a non-English version) but requires a quite complex setup.

Back to the topic... No personal wish except some sort of digital re-release of DS Castlevanias and Mega Man ZX/ZXA/Zero collection (Zero collection came TOO late for a DS title). I'm so disappointed to modern era.

Castlevania re-release all fine, but I would like remake of all handheld Castlevania games, with improved (still pixel-style) graphics, full voiceover, polished Kojima artwork and music remixes, also with their original versions. Something like DXC.

Hopes for the Switch? Ok:

1. Have a decent battery life for when it's portable.

2.  4th gen. Pokemon remakes.

3.  Some games for Nintendo's neglected franchises.

4.  Good third party support.

5.  Don't be arrogant like they were with the Wii U.

That's pretty much it.

Honestly, given the Wii and Wii-U... My hopes are for actual games, Zelda looks good, but besides that (at the moment) It doesn't look too hot.

Tempting yes, but I can't tear myself away from FFXV yet. All of those upcoming DLCs and updates! I just got back from reading a summary of the latest ATR. :o

Nice to know but the hassle is a turn off.

I'm glad they stuck a USB-C port on it for charging on the go. That means I can charge it, load it into a carry-on, and just plug my 15,000 mAH portable battery into it and be set to go on an airline flight. The expandable storage option also rocks, because that means I'll just bung a top-capacity SD card in there and never have a single practical worry about storage.

The new Zelda better have a TON of stuff to do because the way they have their release schedule set up, that's gonna be the only game I have for this for quite some time.

Unless they do Wii and/or Wii U ports, in which case I might have a BIT more to do. PLEASE HAVE PORTS PLEASE HAVE PORTS. I missed out on the entire Wii U generation and the latter half of the Wii era when my system broke.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.
