Harmony of Dissonance's game amnual says that Juste is gifted in magic because he inherited the genes from the Trevor Belmont/Sypha Belnades union.

Neither did I, great find, Alexc. But we were already able to guess that.

^ yeah but that'd still be a guess though, it's great Konami made it official.

y'know I was reading the segment on the story here and I realized in essence the plot really isn't all that bad, it's how it's carried out in teh game.

The rinaldo backstory part was awesome as well as Leon leaving the church, but mathias telling Leon the location just didn't jive.

If I was Leon I'd be like "how the hell do you know all this if you've haven't set foot out of this room for 6 months?" They should have revised it better. And Mathias should have actually combined his sould with Walter's soul and become dracula as a whole new entity.

The whole stone thing also was really hard to follow and if Mathias stole walter's stone, wouldn't night follow him whereever he went as a result? And did Mathias combine all 3 at the end or just the ebony and crimson or what? I mean it's just small stuff like that that adds up and chips away at it.

well, first up, not everybody reacts to news like "your fiancee was kidnapped by a vampire" with logic.

mathias seemingly left the castle, but even so it was walter who put the eternal darkness curse on. having death steal walters soul into mathias' stone negated walters curse, so mathias himself would have to initiate his own eternal darkness curse.

walters reaction to elisabthesa's death? again people react differently. thinking that by following gods will everything will be alright, and coming back to find your wife dead (provided you actually loved her), that could cause one to lose their faith, or possible insanity even. going by other works of fiction, you can have brilliant, yet crazy characters. either way it all boils down to different people having different reactions.

cause of her death was pretty much implied to be a terminal illness(or whatever passed for terminal in those days anyway).

leon's only goal, originally, was getting sara back, so it makes sense that he would take her to rinaldo for safe keeping. this, of course, leads to tragedy and furthers his resolve to finish walter off, which he intended to do before he got her back anyway.

I never did understand why so many crapped themselves when Simon wasn't shown as a generic Conan clone.

I think the reason why I liked LoI so much is the overall game play and the fun I had with the game. I liked the story when I first got the game for Christmas, I played for like 3-4 days in a row taking breaks here and there. It was the PS2 first Castlevania. I also enjoyed the fighting and the ability to fight that giant dungeon monster. Good game to me.

but from what I understand it's the ebony stone that actually causes the curse though isn't it?

see that's what I'm talking about though, it goes back to the nature of life itself, if it was god's will that she die he shouldn't have questioned it. Not if he was willing to kill himself for the church, logically that doesn't make any sense. People get sick and die it happens. He was a weak pansy if it affected him so greatly that he had to denounce his own faith. Your woman died get over it and stop obsessing, find another woman. That's what Hector did. He was a bigger man than Mathias could ever hope to be.

let's say the stone causes it, but the bearer, who is now mathias, must will it.

that's the point here, that mathias was a weak man, who gave into darkness to become dracula.

Simon Belmont from the original Castlevania, barbarian looking and able to just grab bats and eat them shredding their bodies, all that is man.
