yes, though in SotN they moved him away from that to form a all new vampire with only some of his features. Instead they gave him reptilian features. Actually, this is kinda cool because that means he's probably got reptilian eyes instead of just the typical vampire eyes. Who knows, his skin may even have scales. This is making me want to draw him.

Hmm, just remembered that there was a novel featuring the character and it was IGA actually supervised it. It was called Akumajo Dracula: Kabuchi no Tsuisoukyoku. It seems Olrox had been resurrected and the surviving followers of Graham followers serve him. The fact he was resurrected means he had either his own followers or a similar ability to Dracula's self resurrection. I suspect he was revived to fill the void of evil left in the world without Dracula.

i always thought that Olrox deserved to be in more games since he did have his own quarters "Olrox Quaters" in Dracula's Castle with means he must have been a very powerfull and important vampire.
not to mention you could find his armor or suit in CVDOS.
and didn't his description in Symphony read something like a "VERY powerfull Vampire?"
correct me if im wrong ;D

Have you ever heard of "Chorus of Mysteries"? It's a completely overhalled cv1 hack that features Count Olrox as the main villain. You can download it here. You can also order a fully-functional reproduction cart of it here.

I played that hack quite a while ago. Graphicly it's really good. my only complaint is the difficulty. It's the $&!#$! I had to use a combonation of gamegenie and savestates just to beat it. Playing the original castlevania is a lot easier.

Out of all the side stories supervised by IGA, this one actually had gotten my interest the most. Shame we'll never know what happens in the story.

i think the fact that Richter was the lord of Dracula's Castle and yet there was a vampire taking up domain in a sizable area has an interesting story to tell, shame we don't know what it is (unless maybe its talked about in the novel).  would Richter, even in his twisted evil state, allow a vampire to live in "his" castle?  did Richter know about Olrox?  what did Olrox think of a vampire hunter taking over.  was he aware of Shafts involvement?  was he in league with him?  was he trying to subvert him?  i can only wonder what it was that he and Alucard were discussing over the dinner table.  i'm imagining it's one of those "join me" speeches, he might have had reason to believe Alucard would help him accomplish whatever it was that he was trying to accomplish.  they could have had mutual enemies in both Richter and Dracula.

Alls I know is, despite appearing reptilian, I like how much Olrox/Orlox resembles Count Orlok. It's a neat homage and a strange twist on the character, making him so huge and all when his man-like form is broken. It's a shame Castlevania games don't feature more "lesser" vampires (although Orlok would be a serious contender to Dracula, I'd imagine). That's one thing I really like about the N64 games: vampires everywhere! Apparently Vampire Killer MSX has vampires, too.

Vampire Killer has vampires?  I don't think so.  Castlevania Chronicles stage 8 has ninja vampire maids (i think they're vampires, but i might have just read that on a web site), that i think evolved into the N64 vampire maids, but then turned into the vacuum cleaning ninja demon maid Persephone.

Huh. I thought I'd heard a long time ago that Vampire Killer had vampires. Or maybe it was some computer port of the first game.

I think Richter knew about Olrox inhibiting the castle but did nothing about it because there was no need. Richter was made the lord of castlevania until Dracula's ressurection was finalized. In tearms of what Olrox thought about this I can only think of two things.

1: Richter was made the lord of castlevania by Shaft and being under control, posed no immediate threat.

2: If Olrox wanted to off Richter he wouldn't stand a chance. Richter is the most powerful vampire hunter ever to walk the earth and he was able to bring down Dracula. Olrox is no-where near as powerful as Dracula let alone Alucard and with this knowledge in mind he would not push his luck. And since Richter was made lord of castlevania Olrox would be expected to obey him to some extent. That my analogy of the situation.

It's one of the greater things about IGA's reign, he gave us a lot of vampire characters other than Dracula.

Well it could be that Olrox was working with Shaft to manipulate Trevor and ressurect the castle. Who knows what his background could be. Hmm, I wonder how old he is, and why he has the reptilian features, there has to be an intresting story behind that.

some has theorized that Olrox is actually Joachim (maybe cause they both like purple?)  well, it would be interesting if he was, it'd be kind of fun to have a recurring rogue vampire.

In Symphony of the Night Olrox appears as a boss in Aria of Sorrow can pick up their clothes and in Chronicles it appears frozen at the bottom of the third stage! Brauner Besides being a lot like him! These vested are Castlevanias I've seen some thing about Olrox!

cool, i hadn't considered the possibility that the b-movie vampire frozen in Chronicles was actually Orlox.  punished by Dracula, no doubt.

he may have gotten Orlox's suit, but Soma never did get his soul, ha!
