Well, just don't blame Iga. He didn't decide have Dracula be a Transylvania knight gone baddie. It was from "Vlad the Impaler" that Stoker created Dracula, and he has the same story: Wife(both named Elizabetha  :o) dies, Mathias/Drac goes mad, renounces god and becomes a vampire. Iga just based him off Mathias Cornivus instead of Vlad the Impaler.  :P

but in the games it was said that dracula, or dark lord is the opposite of god. i can't see something that's an opposite to an absolute power to have something above it. that's also why i believe chaos is simply a symbol, or a manifestation of the evil in dracula's soul after it was separated from his mortal body and soul for good, and became something else

makes more sense when soma dies to it too. the evil side of him rejoins his soul and they become one again, when he can't resist it anymore (and even arikado who's been slowing down the flow of the power back into his soul isn't enough then), fills the soul with hate towards humanity and reverts it back to how drac was before his death.

if i'd have to compare it to some movie, hellraiser 2/3 comes into mind i guess. in part 2 the main antagonist, pinhead reverts into his old human self (reawakening from the nightmare he's been in for years), but all the evil he had inside him was too strong, and it manifests itself into a pillar of souls to return in part 3.

in 3, the human half is a good guy (soma) who tries to help the protagonist, and the cenobite/demon half the evil one (chaos/dracula) who tries to kill her. eventually at the end they join back into one entity, with pinhead becoming the dominant one (soma dracula, both bad ends) before they're both sent back to hell (julius comes and kicks soma's ass)

lol

why is Mathias so obseseed as to turn absolutely evil over Elisabetha?
he didn't turn absolutely evil. he just became an 'atheist', except he had enough power, knowledge and ability to "flip a bird" at god by becoming a vampire. he used leon to achieve his goal.

maybe he was devoted to the god so much, he believed everything will be all right as long as he stays faithful. so when elisabeth died he understood he was mistaken, and interpreted it as the god punishing him "for the lulz"

only when his tragedy repeated again with another woman, lisa, drac snapped.

Yeah, exactly. Essentially, Leon was a pawn in a greater plot, they were once friends, but he used him for his own game, then once he became useless, he just tossed him to Death. Mathias is suddenly reminding me of Light Yagami from Death Note.  :o

Yes, Soma reminds me of him too...Especially in Dawn of Sorrow Julius Mode. Have you beaten it?

Yeah. Woah! You're right.... though Mathias is a bit more similar, what with his "Judgment of Humanity", though he did it to the extreme, and he lost, in the end.  :P  Have you seen the end of Death Note? I just watched the last episode today and I am still in a state of shock.  :o  Though the way Soma goes a bit extreme and curses his buddies is very Light-Like.

Damn Matsuda.... and I used to love him. Poor Mikami!!!  :'(  But Light did it too himself. He killed Kiyomi and abandoned Misa, two women who would have done anything for him, and he killed Rem(who also would have helped him, for Misa's sake) and he led his father to death. While I almost dry, I kind of feel he deserved it, and I'm happy Misa was alright, my only favorite character to have survived.

But like I said, Mathias just threw away everything for what he wanted, excactly like Light.

Well, Misa was really just a puppet. I liked her in the beginning of the series, but once she decided to be stupid and just let Light use her like that, I kinda didn't care about her.

Anyway, back to the topic...

*cough cough*

If it weren't for the series of unfortunate events (no puns or references intended, please ignore that) surrounding Mathias, what would have happened to Castlevania? It just wouldn't exist, I guess. Hm... :-\

Aw, but I still just loved her. She was always good for a funny, like that time she got drunk with Kiyomi.

Yeah, actually, if it weren't for Mathias CV wouldn't exist. Walter would have just gone on terrorized Transylvanian men and their wives, but I don't think he'd do anything against all humanity.

Maybe if Castlevnaia had a better story, I'd care more.

Well, the ORIGINAL Castlevania had a good story! Simon just kind of walked into the castle, and that was still a good game.
