Perhaps, the spell that Shaft placed on Richter did something to his body that made his future offspring deformed. After almost 200 years the curse was released and Julius was born.

I have another theory.

Richter sucked Alucard off, and he came on his face, so that was how Richter received the curse of his bloodline.

You only came up with that theory cuz you can't get a guy on your broken dick >.>

anyway, I think the whole, OMG we're cursed thing was pretty stupid anyway. It's never really explained, and no doubt when it is, its probably just something they came up in the toilet.
