Alright, I'm really tempted to just close this before the flames and spam starts. Yes. We all know it's different.

There's no such thing as a Dreamcast SOTN.
The dialogue was changed mainly because the original had such bad voiceacting. At least that's what I've been told.

i found this on a web site

Well i guess this is a good and bad thing for Sony to pull out again. First we got the original SOTN for the Ps1/psx. Next came the greatest hits version with a price drop, not bad. Then the sega dreamcast gets a version for itself which has a bonus character and an extra area. Later down the line we get the downloads(Official downloads mind you) on XBLA for 360 and then the Dacula X Chronicles for the PSP. Now we got Castlevania: SOTN as a download again for the PSN for both PS3 and PSP. I guess the one for the PSN is for those who don't own a PSP but own a PS3, or for those who don't want to shell out 24used/29 new(In some places) and play about an hour worth of old school remixed to get to the Castlevania:SOTN unlockable content. But also there is a difference. Purists of the original Castlevania: SOTN will cry foul on some things or just nit pick like a chimp grooming itself. In the unlockable version on Castlevania X for the PSP you get what i can only call a broken version of the Dreamcast version sans the extra area and the redone voice-acting/scripts that made me want to stab my ears out for the changes they made to lines and how they did alucard's voice. In some previous incarnations of the game they have omitted some items due to either space issues or feeling like having them in the game is broken. Yes i am talking about the Ring of Varda. +20 to all stats besides luck which gets +7. So after downloading this for 9.99 off of the PSN, i must say i am so far deeply pleased that they held to the original scheme. The load times are shorter than the 360 version which is surprising to me. The colors seem a bit grainy but i am not really upset about that because still the game looks good. So really this version is for the people who don't want Castlevania X but want Castlevania:SOTN on the go. Just make sure you have 9.99(no tax in some places) and at least a 512mb memory stick pro duo. I cannot remember the minimum update version you need to play games off of the PSN, but to be safe to everyone, update to the latest version off of the official playstation website and be done with it. I enjoy the game but i am sure others won't but purists of castlevania will enjoy it and especially enjoying the small load times.

Replace Dreamcast with "Sega Saturn"

and I haven't played all the way through SOTN on PSP so cant confirm all of the incredibly poor Voice acting.
Firstly because i've played through on the PS1 more than enough times, secondly because its a pretty boring game if you play it enough and 3 because the psp version is horribly glitchy and has crashed on me twice anyway.

I still like the original voice acting/script better. Nothing beats the classic, baby.

SotN never was released for Dreamcast. Only versions we know of are the ps-x version, saturn version, 360 version, DXC, the cancelled game.com version, and the extremely rare Tiger portable version.

Yep, for reason's I still don't understand when it comes to videogames and movies for the most part Americans don't like to put in the time to do good dubs and take like 4 mins and just crappily dub over the original almost always great performances with crap, that alot of the times isn't even a proper translation of the original words. I've heard the new dub is better but I still haven't gotten the nerve to play through the game with it. I'm too afraid I'll be dissappointed and it'll ruin the experience.

I loved the campy dialog of the original sotn. The ferryman rocks. Some of my friends have long conversations imitating the ferryman's voice.

On the topic of bad dubs, I shall now venture off topic into bad translations.

Surely someone, somewhere, who was fluent in English, actually looked at the translation of Zero Wing and was content that it was fine to release it with such shining dialogue as "somebody set us up the bomb", "main screen turn on" and "all your base are belong to us".

Apparently the European version was rushed, but it only takes about 30 seconds to turn those into something like "somebody has set a bomb", "turn on the main screen" and "all your bases belong to us". (I'm not terribly sure of the actual storyline so I don't quite know what "somebody set us up the bomb" is supposed to mean).
