Castlevania credits

I just played Cv1 and killed Drac, then watched the credits. You know, the namen bosses and monsters are shown and who played them. (btw: why is that?) And there... I forgot who is Dracula and Bela Lugosi is Death. Which doesn't really make sense. Also Max Schreck (aka Graf Orlok) is the giant bat. And this while the Cv1 drac looks like him so much.

Well, I just had to get this off my chest.

Dude, don't you know? You need to be on acid to understand those credits. Is randomly thrown by Franky while your fighting him.

If you look at a lot of NES games, they do similar things. You'd find names like Radical Taka, Sweet Bun Yoshi and  Dragon Hiro.

Yeah the CV1 USA credits are a joke.  They don't mean anything, and are references/parodies of movie monster actors:

Screenplay by Vran Stoker = "Bram Stoker" = Writer of the original Dracula novel.

(I don't know where "James Banana" came from, but it seems Castlevania's original sound composer Kinuyo Yamashita, too that name)

Dracula = Christopher Bee = "Christopher Lee" (played Dracula in many movies, as well as "Count Dooku" in Star Wars)

Death = Belo Lugosi = "Bela Lugosi" (one of the original Dracula actors, and the one that made the "Nobleman in Formal Wear with a Cape" famous.  He also played other monsters, such as Frankenstein's Monster, etc.)

Frankenstein = Boris Karloffice = "Boris Karloff" (another original actor who played roles such as "Frankenstein's Monster" in the movies.  He also played Imhotep the Mummy, another movie monster)

Mummy Man = Love Chaney Jr. = "Lon Chaney Jr." (yet another monster actor, his father, Lon Chaney Sr. was considered a 'man of a thousand faces' and played The Phantom of the Opera.  As for Jr. he played the WolfMan, the Mummy, and Frankensteins Monster also)

Medusa = Barber Sherry = "Barbara Shelley" (This actress starred in "Blood of the Vampire" as well as "The Gorgon", a movie about... Gorgons, the monsters of which Medusa is family to)

Vampire Bat = Max Schrecks = "Max Schreck" (German actor most famous for his role as Count Orlox in Nosferatu)

Hunch Back = Love Chaney = "Lon Chaney (Sr. this time I guess) (mentioned above as the daddy to Lon Chaney Jr. and actor who played the Phantom of the opera)

Fish Man = Green Stranger = "Glenn Strange" (another american actor, played Frankenstein's Monster, etc.)

Armor = Cafebar Read = ???? (I haven't been able to decode this one)

Skeleton = Andre Moral = "Andre Morell" (played monsters in movies such as "The Mummy's Shroud")

Zombie = Jone Candies = ???? (I don't know what to look for in this one... Joan Candy?  Candy Jones? ... John Candy? LOL)

And then there's Belmondo.  :P

obvious since the eur versions almost always just take the usa translations as their english version, and translate from that.

Almost. For example Advance Wars: Dark Conflict (I forgot what it's called in the US) has it's own english screentext, that is different from the US screentext. It logically has german, french, etc too, I just want to say that it has two different english translations for EU and USA. And so have some other games.

And, yes, it's obvious. CV1 has english screentext only.

If anyone cares (LOL):
I just played thru the game on GBA (nes classics) and there the credits were just: "you played the greatest role" And "thank you for playing". I don't really get why though.
