Well, when you end up a game programmer at Konami, work your ass of, and then maybe get a chance at producing a Castlevania title, then you can call the shots.

Seriously, what do you want?! Iga to call you up and say, "Hey, what do you want in this game?". He's not gonna call you over to his office or discuss business over lunch with you. Konami picked him to do it and all you can do is deal with it.
So yes, he is THE top dog of Castlevania. HE does get to decide what the official timeline is. He's the man in charge and you're just gonna have to wait til that changes. I doubt that'll be anytime soon, cause I'm guessing Konami likes him or else he wouldn't have been in charge for the last 10 years
What a horrible night to have a curse!

If I ever met Iga it would not be pretty.

I would have to tell him (via translator since he probably doesn't know "Engrish") that I detest his changes and the direction he steers CV into these days and refuses to allow the series to get even a new breath of it's roots.

Don't shove DXC in my face because that was a fucking remake and that doesn't count. Why doesn't Christopher get a new game? The only BELMONTS we've seen get it's own game since Iga took over is Sonia, Leon and Juste and he retconned Sonia's game and her other for Dreamcast was CANCELED and Leon's game was horrible.

The 3D games are just horrible, they are too bland and unexciting, and the same old metro-fucking-vania formula is bland, stale and above all else, OVERDONE!!!

Fire Iga and get the old staff back on board and save this precious series from an unfortunate doom at the hands of dictator Iga!!!!!!

I don't get what the problem is.  I like the games the way they are.  Ok, the 3D games could have been better game play wise.  However, the stories were pretty good.  As for changing the timeline, as producer and top dog, it's his right.  Chances are that if or when IGA is replaced, the new person in charge may change the timeline again.  And then, all of you will be complaining again and forget about what you said about IGA.

I don't mean to sound mean and unreasonable, but if you think about some of the things I said above, that you will all agree with me, or at least in part.

In Reply to #19,
Well, DXC did count because fans have been waiting for an official release of RoB for several years.

Chris got his own comic book series, that's better than nothing. Sonia's Dreamcast game would've been terrible, that's why it was cancelled in order to spare Konami the humiliation.

The Belmonts are the stars of the series, so what if there are a couple of games that feature other protagonists? There's still plenty of possibilities.

The ps2 games aren't horrible, they're mediocre-average. I can name lots of other worse games than LoI and CoD.

IGA has stated that the reason he continues to make "metroivanias" is because the positive response those games get. Also, he even admitted that the style is overused & CV needs to "leap forward".

I never played DoS past the first boss (or maybe a bit after that but no more) but I heard the level design sucked pretty hard in DoS. Maybe thats why?

You must be mistaking it for PoR. DoS's level design wasn't bad, but PoR's was putrid.

Yes, thank you. The Prof speaks the truth. Some people need to stop hating. Play something else. Castlevania might have been a dead franchise if not for Iga. Quit bitching!

I'd rather the series be dead than to see shit continued to be poured out of IGA's ass.

But what I'm complaining about is that IGA has seemingly pushed everyone else who might be interested in making a CV game out of the way.

Unless of course nobody else at Konami was even interested anymore in making a CV title, which I frankly find hard to believe.

To reiterate, the thing that I'm annoyed about is that the series is now under the control of ONE GUY, when all the classics--the far superior games--were done by AN ASSORTMENT OF PEOPLE. And IGA didn't even head SOTN, as far as I know it was mostly the work of the guy who directed Rondo, but IGA brought up the idea of free-roaming and leveling up and using the Super Metroid-esque map system. It's not even exactly his game, he worked as assistant director, yet he holds it under his belt like it were his own. That would be like Shinichiro Watanabe claiming Macross Plus as his own. Sure, he co-directed it and his influence is clearly seen in the series, but it's still mostly the work of Shoji Kawamori.

I just want to see variety again. No one person should be the overlord of Castlevania games since it's never in the past been that way. Even the classic music was composed by an assortment of different people--the gal who did the tunes for the first Castlevania never did another CV score, I'm pretty sure a couple people worked on Simon's Quest, and the list goes on. I want different teams, different talents, different directors, different producers to be making games again.

I personally think DOS' level design is much worse than POR's. When I first played through the game I felt my mind going numb because so many of the areas were so poorly-designed. IMO, it was a huge step backwards from AOS.

So, you're saying the games Iga has been making over the years are shit? The things Iga brought to the table in Sotn like you mentioned ARE what make it a stand out game. I been playing since 86 with the original, and have seen all the changes over the years and think Iga is probably the best thing to happen to the series. And yes , I love the non-Iga KOBE stuff as well.

That is absurd. PoR had worse level design than HoD. Not only was it crappy, but the areas were so damn repetitive(I wouldn't blame someone if he/she got lost easy in the game), and after you beat the first four portraits, you have four more that are the same thing! The level designer sure was lazy.

So, you're saying the games Iga has been making over the years are shit?

I do think that, yes. Sure, SOTN is amazing, it was the first and best of its kind, but I highly doubt it would have been as great as it is if IGA had been the sole director. Even if he was the one solely responsible for the game's greatness, it doesn't change my opinion any that the GBA and DS games are lousy. To me IGA is like a one-hit wonder. I find it really strange that suddenly, since IGA stepped in and took control of things, KCE Kobe were no longer making games. Unless the division is defunct, which is probably the case. Like I said before, maybe nobody else is interested in making Castlevania games, in which case that sucks and I guess IGA should just keep doing his thing. But something tells me that he's just too concerned with the series and has too much power to allow anyone else to come in and make a game without his supervision.

I appreciate the fact that he brought two imports to the US in the form of the Chronicles games, and I understand his love for the series, but I just feel like his ideas and opinions are often quite stupid, and I don't like that he's the main man when it comes to all things Castlevania. CV was never a series like Zelda or Mario where Miyamoto always supervised or directed, or like Metal Gear and Kojima. I find it strange that the series suddenly came under the control of one man about five years ago, and has been that way ever since.

I can NOT WAIT until Iga is taken off the Castlevania games! Hopefully, the next guy in charge will retcon his games and we can finally get a good story going.

DoS's level design is not nice!! Aria's level design IMO is the most awesome after Symphony. DoS is having better enemies design and animation, but that's all it has. It lacks at level design, music, story and it doesn't have gameplay improvements!! On the other hand Aria was something new, with wonderfull level design, nice music, good story plot and an interesting gameplay!! My only complaint is that we didn't get the arranged versions of the sound track!! Only four tracks!!
