I thought the castle was good, but too much copypasta in it though.
Yeah, I got to the castle and was like "wow, this is a unique take on the dusty old place" but then after going through copy and pasted room after copy and pasted rooms, I felt like I might as well play CoD. On the bright side, the enemy placement keeps things fun as mentioned above. But the castle alone is differently the worst designed in the 2D series--at least what I've played.
You know what gets me though. I accidentally skipped the dialog after killing Albus--did he even die? lol, I feel like I missed something kind important.
I do really enjoy the game as a whole and the areas were awesome and fresh, it would be interesting to see this done with a massive one world map though. I'm really crabby about the lifeless castle. At least its pretty. The game is way more consistant than PoR which is great, but I would say it's still the weakest of the three if only for level design and mood. It has the most charm though. I don't feel like hanging the main characters like PoR and DoS(along with many others).
Gameplay is probably the
best out of the Metroidvanias. I love how the enemy weaknesses actually mean something! I feel like they finally got their systems working right this time, it forced you to use the game mechanics to their fullest. The game is a fair challenge too and consistent throughout. I haven't finished it so we'll see how this develops.
