Music in OoE

I've listened through the OoE soundtrack 2 or 3 times now. It's decent I guess. Not many memorable songs.

I think Dawn of Sorrow had much better music.

I love the music in DoS. Songs like: Boss Battle 2, 3, Condemned Tower, intro movie theme, Lost Village, Subterranean Hell, The Pinnacle, Cursed Clock Tower, and Wizardry Lab.

Maybe the OoE music still has potential for me. I don't have the game yet. I get the impression that it has atmospheric, game-oriented themes. By contrast, I think the DoS music stands brilliantly on its own.

Nevertheless, I'm still loving some songs from OoE: 'An Empty Tome', 'Ecclesia', 'Jaws of a Scorched Earth', and 'Chapel Hidden in Smoke'.

So, how are you finding the music so far?

well so far i guess Wygol Vill and Demon Guest house in DoS are pretty the same and other BGM's on OoE are pretty stupid, i don't like to say pretty memorable but a catchy tune (FOR ME) to get me 0.02% inspired to play the game XD im feeling weird that castlevania OoE was a rush up development :( most of the game isn't pleasurable to other players as well

awwww... i guess that explains why soma became an exchange student in japan and furthermore soma had the ability to become dracula ( as seen in DoS Bad ending #2  :o ) this might also be the reason why OoE for some people sucks, it lacks so many CV features  :-[ why did grandpa soma did that?

I noticed the resemblance, too. ^^

The music is in my opinion wonderful, but it doesn't has the same emotional power like other soundtracks.

Personally I really like OoE's music. I think it's better than DoS's.

What I don't understand is why Yamane does this.

I don't see your problem. Every composer does this, bringing memorable motifs back: Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Halo - everywhere, I tell you! =p

I know that, but this is more like Koji Kondo suddenly deciding to remix the Super Mario Bros. theme for a new Zelda dungeon that is in no way based on or even inspired by the first SMB level.

There are some very good tracks in this game, that was not rushed by the way.

PoS was rushed.

OoE was not.

The music is a little sub-standard, but it isn't terrible.  There are some songs I like.  This is usually a trend with Cv games:  either the gameplay and story are good and the music suffers, or the music is great and the gameplay and story suck.  At least, that's what I've seen.

OOE has a mixed bag of hits and misses.  While some tracks like Wandering the Crystal Blue is very good --I don't think it fits Castlevania very well. The remix of Riddle was my biggest disappointment, actually...

IMHO the following are superior tracks

Heroic Dawning --beautiful and haunting
Serenade of the Hearth --beautiful but sadly overplayed
Rhapsody of the Forsaken --Castlevania all the way
Unholy Vespers --The definitive Skeleton Cave Music
An Empty Tome --Shanoa's leitmotif is a solid contender
Malak's Labyrinth > Crystal Teardops
Tower of Dolls --excellent but PS1 version is better still
The Colossus > Pinnacle
Order of the Demon --epic, just like it should be
