Maybe if Gabriel becomes a "monster" of some sort it will be like the final forms of Dracula from the previous games and he could transform at will. It could make for an awesome gameplay ability

Im probably the only sane person here that thinks the "time machine is just used for gameplay purposes only inside the castle, sort of like how PoP Warrior Within did it.

It's going to be the REAL Vlad Tepes III, who, by the end, steals Gabriel's body and merges with his soul, becoming the REAL Dracula.(LOL, just like how people wanted the REAL Vlad Tepes to eventually kill Mathias, still his soul and become the REAL Dracula in the IGA timeline).
