Seems more like he doesn't know what he is talking about.

I kinda see what he's talking about. Though I think the PS2 Castlevanias did make an earnest effort to make things 3D, they forgot about, you know, the Z axis. And platforming.

I'm having trouble deciding which versions to pre-order. I have a PS3 and 360, so I was planning on getting the LE for both (yeah, I know...I'm stupid). But now the EU version is the one with the God Mask, right? I'm thinking about picking up both the US and EU versions now. So if I do that, I need to decide which format I want the US version for. Probably PS3, I'm guessing.

But, just out of curiosity, will either the PS3 or 360 allow you to play EU games on a US console? Also, does anyone know where the best place to order a EU version would be? I checked Amazon Europe and the LE isn't even listed yet.
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

Well yeah, but the thing is that platforming is such an integral part of the 2D games, it can really go either way.

You can't play EU games on an USA console unless you break the area lock or something.

I'm still confused on what is the ACTUAL release date. Gamestop lists it as Oct 19, but yesterday we were all thrilled to hear it was Oct 5. Which is it?

Gamestop's limited edition (which I just pre-ordered online) says October 19th.
If it were to be delivered on the 5th, though, that would be pretty neat. :D

PS3 - YES
360 - NO (unless you hack it, not recommended)

Seems more like he doesn't know what he is talking about.

I don't know, when I first played LoI and CoD, the first thing to enter my mind was that they basically created a 3D Metroidvania - without taking the dimensions into context.

I can't find the Collector's Edition on any UK store website yet (bad planning to be honest with the hype GamesCom has generated).  Tesco has the game listed for a whopping £64.47, which seems likely to be the version, but there're no details.

Cox has just posted up the T-shirt image on his Twitter.  Looks okay.

Dave went on to talk about how there's plenty of platforming gameplay, and people will see that in stages like the clocktower in the castle. In general, he wants people to know that the real attempt with the game was to recreate Castlevania 1 in 3D.

Yesssss! That's what I wanted to hear.

Fantastic interview, David sounds really passionate about this game. That little bit about "Belmont's theme" has me very excited, I cannot wait to hear what it sounds like. :D
