That puzzle took me several tries before I got it. I couldn't figure out how to round off the corners fast enough before running out of time. Each try I kept getting closer & closer though. Funny thing was when I finally did solve it, I thought I was running out of time again. It's VERY close timing when you solve it.

Game is out in Japan now. Sold approx 34,000 copies in its first week (PS3 and XB360 combined). So far, it looks like it's outselling the more recent Castlevanias released in Japan (Ecclesia and DXC sold approx 20,000 each, while Judgment sold 3,600, and Portait 16,300. Week 1, that is.) Maybe the multiplatform release has something to do with this (though the 360 sales is nothing to speak of really - 6,000 copies vs 28,000 on the PS3). Oh, and christmas might have helped LoS in Japan too :)

That puzzle was the stupidest one in the game. It wasn't hard just annoying, because it's so easy to waste time in the curves due to how sensitive it is and the fact that you can't use the dpad for that. Other than that, despite the repeating puzzles, the puzzles were rather fun, but they should be better integrated with the area and the context of the main character's abilities and not just thrown around as simple blockage.

The only puzzle I really hated was that stupid astrology one towards the end. Assuming the player knows the astrology symbols was a bad idea.

That one wasnt that bad. it was easy to guess simply by what symbols moved the Sun and Moon in what way.

I had trouble with that puzzle near the end where you had to punch the tiles to "program" the fuse to go through it's rout to open the door. seriously. I didnt know what to do at first.

I also just couldnt be bothered with the Vampire Wargame

Nof if theres two big things I have to complain about with this game, its these-

1. The manual. Jesus Christ it's terrible. you think it's going to be good since its thick, but then you see its just the same few pages on control scheme repeated over and over in other languages.

2. It assumes that certain things are "obvious enough" not to tell you. The first time quick time events appeared, I had no idea what i was supposed to do, or what those circles were. I ust have fought the swamp trol like 5 times because I had no idea how to handle the finisher, until I finally got it by chance and realized what it was. Those quick time events were rather unnecessary during regular enemy fights though... Some of them looked nice and felt alright, but others just felt forced.

Don't give me that shit, the very first stage blatantly spells out to you how to handle those.

I think it has to with how one looks at things.

I seem to be one of those people who make things harder than they should be.

Im pretty sure it didnt. I fell off of the Pan horse whenever a quick time event appeared, because I was unsure of what I was supposed to press and when. Maybe I didnt pay attention when it did, maybe im just slow on the uptake.
It's still things that the game manual SHOULD explain. The manual is painfully lacking.

Also, another 2 things I failed to mention above-

While not a problem with JUST this game- (most current gen games seem to do this sometimes-) the game likes to assume I have a nice HD TV, and thus on a not so HD older TV, the letters appear tiny, almost impossible to read, made worse by the fancy font.

And the music. While I respect the guy who did the soundtrack, and think he did an amazing job- because the tracks WERE nice- It would have been nicer to actually have some musical variety between levels. I can only hear the same stage theme so many times across different stages before it gets annoying. Would it have really been so hard to make some stage specific themes, even if they are just ambiance tracks?

You're not alone in those QET's or the "lack" of proper instructions in the manual there Flame. It down-right pissed me off when i needed help and it didn't tell me jack about anything I really needed to know. That's where the internet came in and saved what was left of my sanity.  8)

Are you serious? QTE's are explained in the tutorial in the beginning of the game, you can't not miss it or skip it... Puzzles also were not so difficult, the clues from the fallen knight are really explicit... The game is really good, but easy as well, the most challenging stuff are the Trials, but not so difficult...

To those of you who gave me advice and encouragement regarding that blood puzzle, thanks I just finished it an hour ago.  With that completed, I was able to face and beat Carmilla and now I'm at the music box.  I will probably continue playing tomorrow if not later tonight.

My favorite puzzle was probably the Vampire Chess game. I had a lot of fun with it, beat it on my first try. I like solving puzzles in general so I really didn't mind their inclusion in this game.

It's pretty good. I find this game to be very easy to put down.
