i haven't beaten it for the first time yet (stuck at a couple Final Guards blocking my path), but i like alternate runs, that i started on a couple weeks ago with one of my favorite sets of rules. basically, every time you encounter a glyph, you must equip it. i always have one short range "primary weapon type" arm glyph and one long range "subweapon" type one. set A always has both short range weapons on both left and right hands, set B has the short range one on the left and the long range on the right, and set C has the long range weapon in both hands. for the back glyph, i keep it the same for all sets so i don't have to worry about what set i'm using. mandatory glyphs like Magnes tend to mess this scheme up a bit, so i guess i try to have the Magnes on at least one of the sets when needed.
same goes for other equipment, as long as its not totally outclassed by the one you currently have, you must switch to it when you encounter it.
