What Castlevania Chronicles Should Have Been

I have an idea as to what Castlevania Chronicles should have been: It should have been out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System -- done like Super Mario All-Stars.

Case in point - the collection should've contained the following:
*Castlevania (1987)
*Castlevania II: Simon's Quest (1988)
*Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (1990)
*Super Castlevania IV (1991)
*Castlevania: Dracula X (1995)

What do you think?

I'd rather it was a never before played game, than a repackaging of games I already played to death.

I think he meant a game that wasn't released in US/EU before.

Well, from what I know, at the time it came out, RoB was the only CV that didn't come out in US/EU.  That being said, this topic is kind of moot now that we have DXC, which includes a translated RoB as well as a remastered SotN as special features.

Actually what CastlevaniaFan1981 has mentioned is what I wanted to see years ago too! Not long after Super Mario All-stars hit the shelves I was already think way ahead and a Castlevania Chronicals (I called it Castlevania All-stars back then) would be Da Bomb!! But it was only the first three NES games as SCV4 was in no need of being referbished. I even wrote a letter to Nintendo of america presenting this idea. Sadly it never happened.

A non-US released Castlevania collection would have been cool. But then there's the Dracula X Chronicles, which, yeah, more or less renders one pointless.

I've always thought a big CV compilation for the PSX or PS2 would've been great. Kinda like the Activision Anthology games, where they could bundle up the first 4 CV's on 1 disc, DracX/Bloodlines on another, the GameBoy titles on another, etc etc.

That said, and I may be alone here, but I really enjoyed the PSX Chronicles. The enhanced version of the old X68000 game was a lot of fun IMHO. It was very old school but also current (at the time) with the new character designs and cutscenes. I really liked the score too. The DracX Chronicles was also very well done, I just wish it would've been on a console instead of a handheld.

I like it, too. I still pop it in from time to time. And, yeah, considering how Konami recently ported Shattered Memories to PS2 and PSP, I don't think a PS2 port of the Dracula X Chronicles would have cost so much. It's meant to be played on a TV, dammit!

I predict a Castlevania compilation being rife with emulation problems, a la Capcom's Mega Man and MMX collections.

You can play DXC on your TV. All you need is a PSP 2000 model and a PSP to TV sony cable. It was sweet!  :D

I own the MMX collection but I have yet to encounter emulator problems with it. Then again I could have a good copy of the collection.

Ehh... I'd rather just play it on a PS2, though. That component cable isn't nearly long enough to justify it.

And about the MMX collection, there were some sound overlapping issues and the slowdown was cut out of the SNES games which made it feel very odd, but nothing detrimental as I recall.

The anniversary collection, however, had swathes of emulation problems, to the point where I sold it.

MMX2 has tons of sound issues on MMXC. It was enough to put me off.

The regular MMC isn't so bad...except that the GameCube version has goofy controls, and the PS2 version has the wrong aspect ratio.

Good news is they're coming out with a Mega Man Zero Collection for the DS, but I'm worried that rather than representing the games in their native resolution, they'll force stretch them to fit the DS screen.

The only problem I had with the MMX collection is that someone at Capcom had the nerve to use the PS1 version of MMX3 instead of the SNES version.

Didn't take too kindly to the sound in that game.
