I suppose I'll go download this...right now. :o Looks all right. Though I'm not big on Gameloft based on their crummy port of Earthworm Jim to the DSi, and their even crummier HD port.

Wait wait, so, LOS is a shameless GOW ripoff, and this is a Castlevania lookalike?  :o

Well, the people who said its a shameless GOW ripoff are fools anyway.

As for gameloft... they got strip poker! >.>

Well, this is actually clearly a ripoff since it's made by Gameloft of all companies.

Game's fairly interesting. Poor controls, poor music, but it's pretty fun and has some interesting ideas. I like that it's a lot more linear than the Metroidvanias; traversing and backtracking through a big area gets kind of dull after a while, that I just want a good, straight-forward, non-exploration game. So, we'll see how long it keeps me entertained, but I'm enjoying it so far.

It has decent graphics, but the controls aren't that great. There are segments where you're given the opportunity to take photos with the DSi Camera, & depending on the color contents of the pic, it'll determine magic stat upgrades/boosts. There's breakable walls, a damsel in distress, vampires, etc.

I would call this game an "honorary" Castlevania. Considering we haven't got a portable entry since 2008, it's worth a purchase if you're jonesin' for a quick fix.

Looks cool.  Who ever made the game should watch out.  Konami might sue them.  It's way too close to Castlevania.

Hey Gameloft has made quite a few original titles like:

NOVA
http://www.gameloft.com/ipad-games/nova/

Zombie Infection
http://www.gameloft.com/iphone-games/zombie-infection/

Hero of Sparta
http://www.gameloft.com/ipad-games/hero-of-sparta/

Modern Combat
http://www.gameloft.com/ipad-games/modern-combat-sandstorm/

And their upcoming game Crystal Monsters
http://www.gamerbytes.com/2010/06/first_screens_of_gamelofts_cry.php

Those games look nothing like Halo,Resident Evil 5,God of War, Modern Warfare 2, and Pokemon. Nope not at all.

LOL

I actually applied for a job at GameLoft a couple of years ago.
They asked me for a game idea as part of the application process.  An "ORIGINAL" game idea and how the controls would work for a cellphone.
I drew up a game document and submitted it.

And I never heard from 'em again.

The game was a Castlevania-type Cellphone game and I had figured out how to use the cellphone's controls to control the game.
And this was once a Cellphone game?  HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!

Even for a blatant ripoff, it actually looks pretty good.

A really good CV ripoff was C-Lab's game titled 'Rusty'. Hard as hell in the later areas and also fun to play with plenty of good anime music and cutscenes. Though it screams ripoff I'd pick up and play this game over the recent one we've been getting thus far.

I'd be sad if this were a Castlevania game; I'm sure I'd be much less forgiving of its not-so-great parts if it were one.

I gotta say, though, I do dig the level designs. They're a bit wonky, but are also a bit more fun and varied than what you'd find in most Metroidvanias. A lot of it wouldn't work for a Castlevania game—turning into a fish, beetle, or water elemental would be strange in a CV game, and many of the level structures are based on these abilities—but it's really cool for what it is, and I wish Konami would take a couple notes and realize that they seriously need to start designing areas that are fun, intriguing, and not copy-paste and bland. (I'm sick of huge corridors with no interesting ledges or platforms. Really, really sick of them.)
