Topic: Favorite Fighting Games?

Personally I am a big fan of King of Fighters, especially King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match. SNK makes some decent fighting games but KoF is always my favorite(cept for 12), since it is easy to learn but hard to master. Never really could get into Street Fighter beyond Alpha 3 or Third Strike, but I do want to purchase Street Fighter 4 some day. Guilty Gear and Blazblue are great as well, though I kinda lean more towards Blazblue. So do you guys enjoy fighting games and if so, which ones are your favorite.

My journey with the fighting genre started out the original SF (Street Fighter). Difficult as it was, still fun to play (but a few tries).
I later took a dive with Fatal Fury (loved that one a bit more). Mortal Kombat, but found the controls so cumbersome.
King of Fighters = ah the early days were the best, but mixing it up with Dream Matches (sweet!)
And of course the VS series, Xmen vs SF, etc..MVC 1&2

Just recently got back into the fun, with Super Street Fighter IV. And Marvel VS Capcom 3 (which is quite different from the sequel before it)
Controls take some adjusting, but I have yet to play online.

The fighting game genre is certainly one of my favorites (next to RPGs such as Dragon Quest and Action titles like Castlevania)

Like many other people I've started with both Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat in the early 90's, and enjoyed the various SNK games such as Samurai Shodown and Fatal Fury.

For my personal favorite top 5 games in the entire genre.

1) Super Street Fighter II IV (I also equally love SSF2T)
2) The King of Fighters 98' Ultimate Match
3) Mortal Kombat 2011 (having played a near final build at PAX, it is without a doubt the best MK game I've ever played and arguably the best game in the entire series on the level that MK2 and UMK3 have reached)
4) Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection
5) Samurai Shodown VI (which is essentially an anniversary edition of sorts including every single character from SS1 through SSV:Special and the specific fighting styles / modes that were unique to each game)

I also enjoy the Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter, and Capcom Vs. series of fighting games.

Tekken Tag for me. And Street Fighter 3. Those 2 havent been topped yet as far as Im concerned

To be honest, I kinda hate 3D fighters like Tekken. They just aren't my cup of tea and probably the only exception would be soul calibur.
But yeah, I wasn't a huge fan of the KoF games until 97' and 98'. Can't stand KoF94' though, the controls were very stiff in that game to me. Another game in the series I disliked was 12, mainly due to the huge lack of modes and weird zoomed in fighting engine. 2002 unlimited match is amazing though, and believe it or not it has more characters than MVC2(64!!!) and it is much more balanced, except for the boss characters of course(not counting Goneitz and Geese). Fun game, I am pissed that it only came to america on the xbla, a system with a controller NOT made for fighting games.

I never got into fighting games until much, much later on. When I first saw them, I had no idea what to make of them. There was no progression through a level, there was no minor enemies to knock out of the way, it just looked like a digital version of wrestling. But after a time I could start to understand what they were all about. The first game I saw was Street fighter 2 for the SNES. For me it was limited due to the lack of characters you could use. The later installments fixed that issue. I know have an interest in fighting game, if not for the fighting, but for the characters themselves as I like to sprite around with them from time to time. I don't have a set favorite but I do like the KoF sprites as they are crisp and well animated.

Two of my recent pickups were SF Anniversary and KoF Neowave PS 2, Neowave is the Japanese version.

Now the ones I really really like, but have never gotten good at, the Samurai Shodown series, and the 2 Last Blade games come to mind. Lots of sword play and weapons to use, very tactical fighting games..

Lol I feel the same way about Tekken. It's weird because, as someone who really loves and plays fighting games, I feel like ii'm never good at Tekken unless I practice a lot, but a lot of folks say Tekken is a masher.

I think the best fighting games are Third Strike and Guilty Gear Accent Core. To me, those two games are masterpieces, especially Guilty Gear AC because i get a sense that they made the game more out of love than out of obligation.

Capcom Vs. SNK 2, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, BlazBlue, and Samurai Shodown 5 Special get honorable mentions, along with Soul Calibur 2/3.

Love King of Fighters, it's my favorite fighting series by far. I loved Street Fighter Alpha, I've had Alpha 3 in many variations... Mostly liked it on my Dreamcast. Then again when I was heavy into 2D fighters DC was the best and my most played system. I have SF 4 and Super SF4 but I have barely touched them. They seem amazing and all, but I'm just not too interested, rather play Alpha 3 or KOF anything. I do like playing Tekken Tag. My favorite fighter might be Capcom VS SNK 2 on Dreamcast!!!

I love fighting games, even though sometimes I'm terrible at them. Sometimes I have to practice quite a bit. My experience with fighting games started with a game called Eternal Champions on the Sega Genesis. It was kind of an obscure fighting game, but I enjoyed it a lot as a child. Later on, my second fighting game was Street Fighter II Champion Edition on the Sega Genesis. Street Fighter II is really what got me into fighting games. I have just about every version of Street Fighter II out there, lol.

I've tried just about all the main fighting game series that there are out there, and the only two I absolutely don't like are Tekken and Mortal Kombat. I don't really care for any of the Soul Calibur games that came after Soul Calibur 2 either.

I would have to say my absolute favorite fighting game series has to be Blazblue. I love Blazblue to pieces, the first and second game both.

I like the games more so for the game enhancement aspect so I guess you can say I like the potential of what the games could be.
However I do like these games as they are as well. Though I am looking forward to Mortal Kombat 9. It's going to be the best fighter in a long time and the tag team aspect is the best I have ever seen.
