Thinking of getting a Succubus Tattoo
« on: March 28, 2011, 01:49:56 PM »

My birthday is coming up next month and one of the things I've always wanted was a tattoo, but not the trashy kind I see everybody else get. I want something that looks beautiful and unique, so I thought about using the artwork of the Succubus from Lament of Innocence. I think she would make a really awesome tattoo if the shop my Mom is taking me to has an artist who can draw really well.

This is the image I want:

I'm thinking about getting her on my right shoulder so I can not only show her off but see her in the mirror any time I want. What do you guys think? Would she make a great tattoo? :)

She'd make for a killer tat. I have a crucifix on my arm, that's the closest Castlevania-related tattoo I got lol.

You only live once right?

itd make a good one but it most likely wont look THAT good. They cant do that fine a job with the colors and stuff on skin. They can come close but its not cheap by any means.

Well I don't really expect it to look exactly like that picture I posted, but if they can at least make it look pretty, like something I'd be proud to show off, then I'll be OK with it. My Mom swears the shop she's going to take me to get it done for my birthday does excellent work, and they did her tattoos which look pretty good so I'm hoping they'll do a decent job drawing this picture on my arm.

Get the Symphony Succubus instead.

I actually considered that because I like her more than the Lament of Innocence one, but then I decided not to because she would be inappropriate to show off at the beach around my Mom and little sister.

I have many tattoos myself. An earlier post was right...they cannot make it with THAT much detail exactly, but they still can come fairly close. But keep in mind, the bigger the tattoo, the more color and more detail = the more expensive. Doing a portrait-style image like that with that amount of detail is not going to be cheap. They also might not be able to make it small enough to fit on your shoulder.

Came to reitterate what others have said about size and detail.

Suggestions:

1) Make sure you get an artist that actually knows how to draw, meaning get a real artist. Before you allow someone to ink you, ask to see their portfolio. For what you want, you'll want someone is can draw something like that themselves if necessary.  Also, have them remove the fluffy things on her calves, as they would not translate into a good tattoo design.  SKIN DOESN'T WORK LIKE PAPER!

2) You get what you pay for.  If some guy offers to do it for $100, or some other cheap price, run away (literally).

3) The bigger the better as far as detail is concerned.

4) Can't stress this enough.  GET A REAL ARTIST, so some quasi artist who's learned how to trace a line.

If done right, that pic would certainly make a cool tat.

To answer what someone else said while ago I don't plan to get it that size, when I print out an image to show the tattoo artist I'm going to shrink it down to a size that I think will fit my shoulder. :)

Also I didn't think about the poofy see-through leg things, I guess they might have to leave those out because they do look like they'd be hard to draw. I guess she can just be completely bare footed. Also if color is really expensive maybe I can get the tattoo done without color? I'm sure it'll look just as pretty, maybe...

When you shrink it down, you will lose detail. The smaller the tattoo, the less detail & color they will be able to fit into it.

The only way they will be able to fit that exact (or close) amount of detail would be if the tattoo is very large---like if you got it as a back, chest or maybe calf piece. Shrinking it down to fit on your shoulder will sacrifice many of the intricacies of the image.

Judging by the detail that's more of a whole left side of your back kind of thing, not an area as small as your shoulder.

T'is the nature of all Succubie to be inappropriate because that's their nature. Protecting your family is all in good and I support it fully so maybe you should get two tattoos. Get the LoI tattoo for your arm or such that people can see, and have the SotN Succubus tattoo hidden elsewhere so your mother and sister cannot see it.

I'd rather just have one tattoo, and I think I'll get her either on my calf or on my back since there's more room to draw her there.

I hope the artist can do an excellent job, it'd be awesome to have a really cool tattoo to show off when I go to the beach. :)
