A 1999 game? Staring Julius, Alucard (certainely), maybe an old Jonathan/Charlotte, a time traveler like St Germain? With the most climatic story of all CV's? HELL YES.

Yes, that would be great. I want a CVIII (my favorite) gameplay, with switch characters, like Trevor-Alucard-Sypha-Grant. Maybe a Grant descendant. But NOT the Grant-mummy from Judgment (sorry for mention that game).

I forgot about Saint Germain. :o

I to would also love to see him return for the 1999 game.

His character really caught my attention in COD and I'd love to see more on his relationship/rivalry with Death.

I want to see the 1999 game come out for the 3DS, but leave it to another team and not IGA. A team who're classic CV fans like us who know what the rest of us want.

It should be sort of like a combination between metroidvania and classicvania.  No leveling up, stage by stage, but hidden power ups like life max ups and equipment.

I was thinking of this too  :) I was also thinking it should have a dynamite opening stage kinda like Contra 3 or Contra hardcore because it is THE Demon Castle Wars.

A little torn...  I don't want to see another half-baked cookie-cutter like the last 3 DS games.  Konami better be ready to give IGA a proper budget and schedule to give this one the treatment it deserves.  I thought Dracula X Chronoicles was very well done, but they kinda cheated because they simply  polished up an existing game --we won't get anything close, much less surpassing this without some serious effort.

We need something with a strong story.

Not only 'Hey lol, it's Demon Castle Wars and Dracula will die for realz lolol'. We need something about Mathias' early life, how Dracula tried to destroy God and humans, why Death choosed to obay him, why and how he fell in love with Lisa, what did Alucard with humans, why Belmonts disappeared during years (cf. OoE), why the Morris and Lecarde families were chosen to help them, etc.

Also, truths about other characters: Galamoth, Aeon, Death, etc.

If many characters are involved, the story MUST be incredible. We deserve it!

It NEEDS final revelations, we need to know everything. We need to know. (dramatic music ends)

The thing about fleshing out the story points you mentioned, that's a very slippery slope. Cuz once they start explaining why Death obeys Dracula, Mathias' early life, etc. many people especially here will get pissed cuz it won't fit with THEIR vision on how things are. I mean look at the heated debates we have now with the little story tidbits they do give us. But sometimes less is more.

Really the 1999 game doesn't need that much story-telling anymore than how AoS was. However if the 1999 game was on consoles (unlikely) then I could definitely see the story being fleshed out the way you described in several cutscenes.

I agree with this, its just not really necessary to have an story-oriented game

Could care less about story, just make the damn game!  Why does anyone even care about the story?  We all know what happens anyway.

Fair enough.  I'm just saying, based on all other Castlevanias and their stories, would anything like how they are presented satisfy you?

Things I would like to see in the 1999 Demon Castle Wars game -

* Julius, and how hyped he's already become because of the "prophecy" of the fated 1999 battle with Dracula, which may play a part in his characterization
* Direct involvement by the Vatican
* Alucard and his roles as both the son of Dracula and the only living accountant of the past battles against Dracula
* A Belnades (Yoko's dad or aunt perhaps)
* The passing of the whip from the Morris clan to Julius (either Jonathan or his children/grandchildren)
* St. Germaine and how he ties into things. (an affiliate of those who keep the Time Stream and how important the 1999 Battle is, perhaps?)
* How the Hakuba's are involved in the Eclipse seal (coming together of Christian and Shinto religions for a common good? Awesome potential)
* Dracula at full power - would involve epic battling of massive proportions (none of this get to the end, fight a few forms, then game over crap - I'm talking segmented battles-within-battles)

In fact, hand over the story to me. I'll make it awesome. Guaranteed.

Drac at full power would be awesome...especially if he dropped in on you a few times to hinder your progress (concealing his identity, maybe?)

I'm wondering if we'll ever see this game since it would be such a loaded project at this point, but it would be nice just to see how the game would turn out. Probably better left as lore (so as not to spoil the mystique), but what the hell.
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

The question though for those who do want to see it happen, would you rather it be a ClassicVania, or a MetroidVania?

How about... A Tactical RPG?

WAIT WAIT!!   :o

Before you impeach me for blasphemy, think about it. I think it could be quite a cool idea. I mean, it was an all-out WAR, wasn't it? Therefore, the tactical combat. You would have heroes like Julius and Alucard, and regular soldiers who would assist you against onslaughts of Dracula's minions. And you would have spells and special abilities and shit like that, and so would Dracula's demons. You could fight in various areas in cities and villages infected, and at the end you'd reach Castlevania, there having to clear out area after area until you reach Dracula who would be strong as heck.
