I don't understand how so many could want Iga, knowing what a terrible story teller he is, to make a game based on the events that took place in 1999. You KNOW he would screw it all up. Just use your imaginations. Nothing can top it.

For them to abandon a concept in the main timeline's canon that has been HEAVILY referenced in several games, and the opportunity to really revive the main time's game structure and tie everything together, would honestly be a stupendously idiotic move on their part. So much potential flushed down the shitter because they've put a perhaps slightly too ridiculous amount of stock in a alternate universe retelling? They'd be shooting themselves in the foot, in my opinion.

And this is with or without IGA. I honestly don't care if he doesn't do it. He took someone else's ideas and ran with them, why can't a new person?

You hear me, Konami? Get your shit together.

Pretty much how I feel too. It's not that I want IGA, but rather I don't want the main storyline to go unfinished. IMO, the storytelling in LoS wasn't all that great either. The story is one of the reasons I still play classic Castlevania. We get text at the beginning to set the story up and text at the end to finish it....with a few exceptions. It was so simple, but it worked. However, that type of storytelling isn't really accepted nowadays. It seems a lot of gamers and critics want much more than that. So many stories try to be too much and end up falling flat on their face.

Believe me...I LOVE a good story. I just wish developers would do it better.

I don't care about history. I didn't care on CV1 and neither did on CV SOTN.

At this point, I just want a refreshing Castlevania experience (no, not LOS, I don't think it's Castlevania enough for me, besides being a great action game). Metroidvania or not. Iga or someone else, I don't care.

I must admit I still would like to see IGA return for this game and redeem himself by shocking all the LOS fanboys and haters by making a very good CV experiance.

But more importantly as some others have said I do not want the main storyline to be killed off so if Konami feels the need to bring someone else in (Besides Cox) to make the 1999 game I may be a little disapointed but I would get over it quickly as long as the new guy/team incharge does the storyline justice and makes a great CV experiance for all of us.

I believe he is capable of doing so. Konami just never cared enough and when they decided to start caring, they went with the route of a reboot. I'd like to see what Iga can do with a longer timeline and bigger budget, like Mercury steam had. I still very much enjoyed his games and would not be opposed to his return.

I hope too, that it´s IGA who makes the 1999 game. Why? Because he makes the first statements to imagine how could the Demon Castle Wars are going to be. Well, maybe someone would make it, too (but not Kojima, PLEASE). But I think that IGA deserves that honor, to redeem himself, and to prove that he can make a good (portable) game. Hopefully, we don´t find recycled sprites (like in the DS games, or in Harmony of Despair), but new ones. I will prefer 2d art, among 3d. I mean, a 2d/2.5d game like Hardcorps Uprising, than a 2d/2.5d like Dracula X Chronicles.

How many chances do you want to give him!? It's not like he hadn't had several chances. He could have made it but he decided to make Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, Order of Ecclesia, Judgement, etc.

Friend its called money. He and Konami love it. He's going to milk it as long as he can until we lose interest. It reminds me of How I met Your Mother in terms of milking. They won't reveal the mother until we lose interest. :(

However, I will say he better do it if he's going to do it. He may not have another chance.

Thing is, he had several opprotunites to do it, hell he could have done the 1999 game after AoS instead of Dawn. I rather place my bet's on Shenmue 3 being released before the 1999 game at this point.  :-\

I hope they wait even longer to release CV1999.. let the anticipation build for a few more years.. let MercurySteam release a few more CV-ish titles so by the time 2016 rolls by, the fanbase (what's left of you) will be BEGGING for IGA to return Castlevania to it's 2D glory.

But the Castlevania series will be robooted again by then. You can only have a fan waiting for so long before he say's "Fuck it" which is where im at at this point.

I don't think IGA will be around for that long in terms of developing new CV games. The fans are losing their patients with him so by 2016 we might see a different director at the helm.

This is what I am talking about. People don't want to create it because they don't love castlevania, but I does!

Or Konami could say, "Hey, we're having issues reaching our fanbase. Nintendo, we'll let you produce a game for the Wii and 3DS if you help us out here with some storywriters and developers." I mean, they were both arcade developers and then Konami pretty much cozied up to Nintendo until the Playstation era. Some of the old guys from that era still work for Nintendo and, I dunno, maybe they'd welcome a joint venture with Konami. Nintendo loves anniversaries and nostalgia trips more than any other developer I"ve seen. Anyone that recycles the same mascot for 20 straight years sounds like a good partner for a fan-service game.
