I want an old-school, 2d rendition of the 1999 battle chock-full of secrets, alternate paths, etc. with graphics and gameplay backed by the most powerful of the home consoles. ):T

I have the feeling the only thing we'll get for the 25th annyversary is the announcement of LoS sequel at E3 or Gamescom. That'll be it.

Everything comes full circle

I don't know. IGA has had a 3DS devkit for a while, and I'm pretty sure Konami wants to release something to take advantage of the anniversary. Maybe we'll even get an NGP Castlevania announcement.

yeah what a great way to celebrate castlevania's long history that would be, announcing the sequel to a game that essentially destroys it  :P

I agree. That would be very much ironic. Btw, I don`t consider LOS a CV game. It is just that some stupid people decided to put the CV name on that game for selfish reasons.

I still hope for more 2D CVs, even if it will be the last one, to celebrate the 25th anniversary. I would definitely vote for a 1999 game, young Julius, Ayami Kojima, Michiru Yamane and IGA.

@Angevil: YOu didin't even play it, but luckily, you are almost alone.

I would like to see the 1999 game of course but I just can't recall any saga that had survived with two simultaneous self-contradicting timelines  :-\

Well, there's Final Fantasy, where every game is kind of its own world with only a few ties between them.

And there's Mega Man, which has six or seven different series across two timelines, three or four of which contradict each other in myriad ways in spite of being part of the same timeline, quite a feat. (Dear God, some of the things in the X and Zero games are hilariously contradictory. It's why I ignore the plot by and large.) And Mega Man holds (I think) the world record for the most entries in a single game series.

So I don't think the timeline will have anything to do with Castlevania's success. If it did, it'd be waaaay screwed by now.

Yeah, look at comics or video games. People usually don't buy games for the storyline or stuff like that. They only buy them becase they're fun to play.

Most of these supposed condradiction arise because of bad localization, and because people don't pay attention to what is established.
