Topic: Fans of Games Similar to SotN Should Really Try Outland

Has anyone here tried Outland for Xbox 360 (and PlayStation 3, I think)?

It's a mix of the Metroid and SotN-style Castlevania games, as well as Ikaruga. To be honest, I wouldn't mind having a new Castlevania game done in this style. My only real gripe with the game is that the environments aren't terribly memorable in that it's a bit hard to differentiate them from one another from a visual perspective. Still, the game is streamlined enough to negate this flaw, as a quick look at the map should reveal where you're supposed to go next.

For the record, there's a fairly lengthy demo available, so I'd recommend that you guys give it a shot.

I also think the creators of that game were somewhat enamored with Zelda: twilight princess as the glowing runes on black sprites seem to indicate.

Ikaruga is hard. I like Outland, it is OUTLAND by the way. I played the demo and will surely make a purchase this week. Hope it turns out awesome.

The game also supports online co-op (only for certain challenges), in case anyone's curious about online play.
