I think it's the same artist who did the artwork for the other gamebook. He does a pretty great job at making it look a little goofy, while at the same time evoke chills with the menacing look of the monsters, and tense atmosphere.

Minor nitpick! But the Lords of Shadow art employs much more shading than Shinkawa's art. Shinkawa's art is more focused on blotches of color and strong strokes rather than shading. He rarely even uses shading as most form is given by blocks of single colors rather than gradual color-shifts or etching. The lining is much more broad and expressively wisp-like, employing a lot of deliberate omission and different sized strokes.
