PS3 Version of HoDespair has local Co-op?

I just read that on the official Castlevania Facebook page. The PS3 version comes with an all-new local co-op mode. Since I don't have Xbox Live Gold(I never play online games), I didn't want to pay solely to play multiplayer on my copy of HoDespair, but since that is the main point of the game, I felt quite ripped off. Mainly because I expected the Xbox one to come with local Co-op so I could play with my friends and my girlfriend on a single console.

I HOPE they bring in some amazing update to the Xbox one to fix that. Seriously, what gives?

You jerk. You beat me to the punch...

Yeah, I hope for a 360 patch, but whatever. Maybe the DLC will come with the package?

Well --this IS interesting...  If they're tinkering with the original game's code, that certainly opens the door for more expansions.  But I still DEMAND all of the 360 DLC one Day 1 --this is arriving on PSN a year late after all...

PlayStation fans will finally get a Chance to Battle Dracula With Their Friends and put Their Vampire Hunting Skills on Display on the PlayStation®Network

Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced that Castlevania Harmony of Despair will be coming to the PlayStation®Network later this summer. Players will now have the opportunity to be reunited with Dracula featuring fast paced, 2D side scrolling action that the series has become known for with a new local 4 player co-op mode added to compliment the excising 6 player online co-op mode already in place. Also added into the PlayStation version is the "Beauty, Desire, Situation Dire" Map pack, which is known as the Pyramid of Ruin level as well as downloadable characters Julius Belmont and Yoko Belnades, all available with the regular purchase of the game.

In Castlevania Harmony of Despair, fan favorite vampire hunters from throughout the series come together in order to return Dracula to his eternal slumber. Joining forces with friends on the PlayStation Network, up to six players can explore massive levels inspired by the worlds of Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia via online co-op play. Players will also be able to join in on the fun locally as a new 4 player local co-op mode has been added to the PlayStation version. As players employ their cooperative skills to unleash devastating attacks and fight the forces of darkness, they can discover hidden locations, special items and equipment to help in their quest. Fearless players can even choose to engage in competitive Survival Mode with friends to and determine the best slayer of evil. Featuring detailed 2D art and now including bonus content in the form of map and character packs on the first day, Castlevania Harmony of Despair will provide players with a thrilling, next generation gaming experience coupled with the classic Castlevania aesthetic.

Hmmmm....

This really is shocking and wonderful news that exceeded expectations!   Many thought it would just be treated the same as the Hard Corps Uprising port.

Konami is being more giving than what fans expected, so all the more reason for fans to support this and appreciate the extra effort they made to make the 1 year wait for the PSN version worthwhile.   ;D

*4 players local co-op added
*Julius included
*Yoko included
*Chapter 7 included

i wonder if it will be all split screen the entire way, or if you could zoom out 100% and try to play like that...  or maybe it could continuously increase the zoom as needed to fit all the players on the screen, and then split the screen when they become separated by so much.

another question about local co-op is if all players will be pulling from the same account and inventory or if they could each use separate ones.

another mode i thought could be interesting would be a Portrait of Ruin like AI mode, where you could switch between two characters in single player mode so you can get to some of the areas that normally require two players.

Most companies don't wait a year like this to port a game --it's not difficult or expensive.  At the end of the day, the only thing 360 owners don't already have is the local co-op.   Meanwhile PS3 owners are going to be expected to pay-up for DLC the 360 owners have already enjoyed for months.  The full DLC package probably won't be available till the end of the year at best.  Even IF they do create brand new content (playable Trevor, Grant, Sypha --or something like that) that still won't excuse Konami's negligence IMO.

Unless they decide to make the Xbox360 DLC free downloads, and then make a shit-ton of new DLC for the same prices as the originals ($3 for a character, $2 for a retro character, $4 for a stage, $3 for a retro stage). Though, hopefully they won't include anymore retro stages. As cool as it was, I don't want them.

Well it's pretty fair.  360 paid for the DLC, so it would be strange for a company to suddenly give away the rest of the DLC to PSN owners for free.

Konami already been generous adding Yoko, Julius and one of the largest and most unique stages for free.    People shouldn't be so darned cheap and self-centered.   Putting up DLC on digital market, even as a free download, costs something to Konami.

If enough people on PSN chip in like XBLA people have for the DLC, that could convince Konami to either later start supporting Harmony of Despair with extra DLC, or make a cool direct sequel to this!   Castlevania Harmony of Despair 2 sounds really epic!   ;D  Double the chapters, 50% more characters, music tracks, option to transfer their HD1 data, etc.!    ;D
