That's very nice, but you don't speak for everyone else.  Enough people have said this where there is some merit warranted into looking into either Van Helsing or Vampire Hunter D.  I would wager that VHD has gone so far as being Castlevania's 'sister series' in the eyes of most fans, despite your personal opinion on it.

The Van Helsing/VHD part was my personal opinion, not actually part of the argument I was making. I didn't really make that part clear... Whoops.

I agree that Vampire Hunter D is close enough to Castlevania, that they could easily be a sister series or a "What If?" alternate future timeline. I guess I find it hard that you can like one but dislike the other, but that's just me.

Also....at least SOMEONE represented Castlevania at Comic-Con, even if it wasn't Konami themselves.  >:(

MGS is a good series, but let it die with 4

It would have finished with the first MGS (PSX 1998) game. But fans weren't done with that. They wanted more so Hideo made more.

The gal next to Frogger (dunno who she's cosplaying; maybe some MGS character—never played much beyond the first game)... Must.have.more.pics.

Saw a couple pics on Konami's Facebook, and wow is she pretty.

Some other thoughts:

Snatcher and the first MGS are two of the absolute greatest games ever, so despite not playing much of Kojima's output, those two solidify him, in my mind, as a great video game director and ideaman.

The VHD films are fanf***ingtastic, and I think it's insane that a Castlevania fan doesn't like them. Unless they're strictly fans of the GBA/DS output and not so much the older games.

I could see Konami "celebrating" Castlevania's 25th anniversary with some stupid wallpapers available through Facebook, and nothing more.

Aside from MGS and maybe some DDR titles, when was the last time Konami themselves actually made a video game instead of giving projects for other companies to do? It seems like all the Japanese giants have been doing that gradually over the past decade or so, being more like hot-shot executive producers and big-house publishers than game developers. Nintendo, Capcom, Konami... Damn, what's happened to my favorite game companies?

Vampire Hunter D, This and the classic monster movies pretty much made conceded Castlevania.
I love those Films, as for Van Helsing, Trash.
oh and that Hellsing Anime/Manga, Castlevania with guns, why else would you see Dracula have constant usage of the bat/wol/mist forms on-screen(panel) when even the classic movies didn't put much use on it, which all the more enjoyable, except the whole slave Dracula thing, cause that plot is just stupid.

I would be fine with some stupid wallpaper or something, if Konami would step up and hint something like "You have NO IDEA what we have in store for you in 2012 ;D. Now, take this stupid wallpaper and hold your breath".

Or something.

I can only assume it's some kind of Blood-pact. Like in the anime Mosquiton.

God guys... TGS is the only event where they can announce something about Castlevania (besides LoS2, which could be announced in Gamescon). A japanese game being announced in comic con? Seriously?

Tell that to Tekken X Street Fighter. Japanese company (both of them), Japanese game, Japanese only version at that.

So, what exactly was that you were saying again?

You underestimate SDCC and it's potential. While it might not be solely focused on video gaming like E3 and TGS, it's still enough to get big-name publishers to reveal lots of stuff about their franchises. The gaming industry has begun recognizing that since recent years.

Capcom fighting games aren't something I would call being focused on a japanese demographic, their games have have appeal for both markets, makes sense announce them there.

Castlevania? Not so much. I never saw Castlevania being announced at E3/Comic Con/Gamescon before LoS.

You didn't specify. Regardless...

Fighting games are most certainly Japanese centric. Where do they all end up first? Arcades. Those things that aren't all that existent here anymore.
