Okay, now explain how this "war" was Prophesized Hundreds of years ago (conveniently after AoS was made)
"The year 1999, seventh month,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror.
To bring back to life the great King of the Mongols,
Before and after Mars to reign by good luck."

Nostradamus wrote this in the 16th century.

But the game will take place in the castle so it doesn't matter. There were no outside references in Aria that screamed "WE'RE IN JAPAN GUYS" besides the [short] intro

IGA can do research, but that still doesn't exempt him from being a bad storyteller.
There are worse than him, believe me

Why do people keep thinking AoS's castle is located in Japan? I thought the game was pretty clear on that being not the case.
Because their minds are already violated by a dark priest are already made up about Iga.

Agreed, Micheal Bay and Uwe Boll are amonst those kinda people
IGA isn't that bad, but he's in the convenient plot place in bad, sometime it feels like he's going out of his way to build up this castle war and that bugs me, the mystery in AoS was more than enough for me.

The castle appeared in front of the moon just at the end of the intro. And if you look at all the backgrounds while outside the castle, you can see it's suspended high in the sky above the earth's surface. So it's not in japan but more in earth's high atmosphere.

Exactly. Didn't they say clearly that they were in the eclipse?

Yep. It's inside the eclipse. Not in Japan.

How does that work exactly? Being "inside the eclipse" does that mean the castle is actually sealed in the eclipse over Romania, and Soma was sucked there? Is it some sort of dimensional thing? is it in space between the sun and the moon?

Always wondered that.
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

And since an actual eclipse lasts only a few minutes at most, were Soma and crew trapped in time?

I think you guys have it spot-on there. Castlevania sealed inside the eclipse would be in a stationary time lock since eclipses don't last long. And I also think it's in a dimensional realm slightly out of phase with the rest of the universe so no-one can actually see it unless they are in Castlevania themselves.

This is good stuff, I like theorizing these things  ;D Sindra's also good at this stuff too.

Maybe the eclipse opens the way to the castle. So it act as some kind of gate or something.

I would not call IGA a bad storyteller... usually. He's prone to using cliches often and his stories are often predictable. I think his best works in storytelling are Aria of Sorrow and Harmony of Dissonance, both of which have really intriguing concepts, like Maxim's state of being representing the two castles. In Aria's case, there are several mythos furthering concepts and really intriguing characters, my favorite of which is Graham Jones. IGA would also often do a respectable job of referencing older games in his stories.

They may not be incredible masterpieces, but they are intriguing, inoffensive, and take advantage of the long history of the series without shitting all over it, like Legends, or doing it in a bizarre, almost pointless way that doesn't really pay respect to the series, like Lords of Shadow. Portrait of Ruin and Dawn of Sorrow are unfortunate failures, in my mind, however. Really annoying characters, dialogue, missed opportunities, and sheer pointlessness plague those stories.  Judgment would be pretty lame, and it is, actually, but I appreciate some of the back story it unveils about some of the characters.  Besides, given the format (dream match fighter in the Castlevania universe), I don't think there was really any way to do a decent story.

I think its best Described as this.
IGa's Story telling is Pretty bad at times, but Pretty good overall, Sometimes I think he puts the game before the story which is good, but forgets to put story back into the game at times.
Looking at from game to game, I really gave IGA more Crap than he deserves, but most of the crap comes from the Demon Castle War that Kept being mentioned in Irrelevent games.

Ironically SoTN was his worst since there wasn't much story, and it was very all over the place, The Richter Being Evil made sense, but the Maria scenes could have been better, Shaft's Return Was both Senseless and Unexplained, and the whole Dracula seeming to turn good at the last moment made made little sense too. Bute it made up with Half of an Awesome Game, the Inverted Castle... well, Felt Rushed since you can just rush to the OP items and the rest of the game is a cake-walk, The Story's main flaw is that it really didn't have much to go on... But there were quite a few potential cutscenes that should have been there to develop Alucard more.

LOI was another Example of Bad Storytelling, but unlike SoTN, he had ALOT to work with, but ended up with short talk with Gandolfi about subplots that went nowhere. Honestly, I would love to Remake this game With a Better Story, Not Changing it. What should have been done is Major development on Walter and Scenes with Mathias throughout the game slowly getting itno his psyche on his decision of turning into Dracula, Joachim had enough mystery to him to develop a whole story, and there could have been flashback scenes with Gandolfi's Daughter. The game was pretty good, but I felt that the Story overall was Lazy given the fact of have so much to work with.

PoR was So-So, I don't have much to say about it, it has good points and bad, but overall averages itself out.

DoS was pretty good, It wasn't too bad, but it lacks anything interesting since AoS did the Same plot before, Dario could have had more development and the Dimitri plot made the story more enjoyable, the development of all the god guys is a Strong point, but the lack of development of the bad guys brought it down a bit.

OoE Had one of the Best Stories Since It Developed all of the central characters enough to make it good and give a plot twist that is also suitable, the ending is actually very good and bursts with a bit of emotion, I want the next game to follow this in terms of story telling by developing characters, although I welcome more unique ways too.

AoS Also is one of the Best Stories, You Play as Dracula's Reincarnation amonst a sealed castle, the Side characters are developed well and you get why Graham wants to take dracula's throne, only Con is that Soma suffered from typical Anime Protagonistism Early in the game (always confused, doesn't understand even the basics), when the true Soma started to shine the game was awesome.

HoD is one of those overlooked games, it Doesn't look appealing nor sound too appealing, but that's mainly because the GBA couldn't handle this game, Wow, this is the best IGA story, It felt like the game SoTN should have been, although quite a few elements were from SoTN, The Sequel to Simon's Quest Made sense, Maxim's Portrayal was top knotch, although the final Dracula fight was Grotesque, the game overall was gold tarnished by the limits of technology, this I would love to remake Simply by giving it better Graphics and sound.

last but not least, CoD, Great Story all the way, but a Castlevania Beat em up isn't the best game, Fun, but doesn't fit the glove.

My favorite part about LoI's story was that Mathias's plan was basically Russian roulette.

I wonder what Mathias's reaction would have if Leon just ran right past Rinaldo and never got the whip.
