Any of you guys ever put any serious thought as to what the book might be like as an official CV game?

Bram Stoker's Dracula for the NES was pretty Castlevania-ish, except Keanu Reeves punched zombies instead of whipping them. It was kind of fun, but not terribly interesting after the first two levels.

Also, the music was pretty cool for what it tried to do:
Shitty VGM Showcase: Bram Stoker's Dracula (NES)

I know it's titled SHITTY VGM SHOWCASE, but I thought it was interesting in how ambient it was. The composer also went on to do this:

Savage - Main Title

The best thing about the NES version was the sound track hands down. The graphics weren't too bad either. The game play left loads to be desired as did the enemies & bosses. I guess this game could be a start, though. However I'm more interested in how you'd make it if it was up to you.

Already done-ish.

The Castlevania Games are Extremely close to the Hammer Dracula films.

Book to Game?

I bet it'll turn out to be Lords of Shadow Meets Mass effect's RPG System.
which would be great if kept to a Normal Scale.

I think if I ever made that game myself I'd have to base it on the Bloodlines aesthetic.

Dracula being hunted by the Morris clan in Romania, so he flees to London just to run into the mysterious belmont clan.
After he returns to Romania, he is defeated by Morris, but takes him with his as John witnesses his father's death and picks up the fabled Vampire killer.

Now add more elements from the book and we'll have a game!

I didn't say johnathan, I was refering to his dad John (YES it IS confusing)
after watching dracula kill his father, he later becomes a BAMF who Surpasses any belmont (until Julius)
(and yes, John would tear through richter like paper, LOOK at him)

in fact, there could be a game where the Schneider Family passes the Whip to the Morris Family...

but more importantly, Konami needs to (and probably finally is) realize that Dracula isn't a major element that has to be in every castlevnania game.
just look at PoR, great story and could easily been done with just Brauner.

There could've been a LOT of great done with PoR. They could've introduced a team of Nazis occult researchers that planned to ally with Dracula's dark power(or harness the power of Chaos for themselves, and discovered that the world's greatest culmination of this force was gathered in Dracula's Castle). They could've done the same for the Allied Forces, and have Jonathan Morris a member of a special Allied force, along with Charlotte. For me, in this case, Dracula could be mentioned, but they didn't have to bring him back. They could've pulled the, "not enough souls were gathered to bring him back" explaination after you defeat Brauner(who'd be the real final boss). The whole, "We prevented his return!" thing, which would've worked best, IMO. I would've also changed Brauner's designs. We already have an Olrox(Orlok), we don't need another wannabe-looking-Nosferatu. As for Eric Lecarde, I would've liked him to be alive, and also a member of the Allied force(maybe Jonathan's superior officer) who orders Jonathan and Charlotte to enter together, while he entered the castle from the back and trekked through it alone(assuring the two that he could handle the castle alone, like the badass he is).

It would have Gary Oldman saying: "What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets!"

And that would be GREAT SUCCESS
