Rarely do I ever rant in...... well, anywhere. But this has to be said: the DLC for LOS is a FUCKING INSULT!!!!! I recently had the absolute JOY of playing both on my brothers system (I do not have them, nor do I intend to basically throw away $20. So unless someone generously donates the DLC to me I will NOT be getting it for my own system) and while I enjoyed LOS for the most part (though the Lack of a death fight, and the 2 disappointing last boss fights did leave me a bit perturbed) the DLC is just a joke.

I mean seriously, 5 stages, for $20!?  :o And not 5 unique LONG stages, nope. 1 stage that is almost EXACTLY the same as the original, then 2 new stages with a fun gimmick: playing as Laura. But you BARELY get to use her. Then we have 2 stages that are basically both a boss fight, and some wall climbing/jumping. And it's the SAME BOSS TWICE! Just with one or two new tricks added to previous ones.

I thought the few new cut scenes were cool, but most of them were during the boss fight with the forgotten one. And let's not even talk about the endings. No 3d cut scenes, just 2d panels that look like concept info. It was obvious that they didn't want to put the time and effort into more cut scenes, but wow... they could have done MUCH better than this. Especially resurrection's ending: it could have been so, SO much more.

Lastly... the price: $15-$20 for this TRASH!? O_o I got much more HOURS of enjoyment and thrills from DLC for Castlevania HD for $3-5, than I would from this 30-40 minute romp. I wouldn't even think of paying more than $7 for this total. What's worse is that you can tell that these 2 bits of DLC were originally designed to be one. Konami obviously split them like this in the hopes of DOUBLING their profits.

Fuck you Konami. Straight up. Fuck you, eat a dick, choke on sperm and die.

EDIT: Quick side note: I referred to both final boss fights above. While I thought dracolich looked amazing, the actual fighting him was lame. It was just basically an event battle and a real disappointment. Satan was just pathetic. So much wasted potential. I felt like I was fighting just some nameless boss, not the demon lord himself.

That's the general trend of DLC for all games. Twice the cost for half the (very little) content.

Trust me Esco you're not alone on this. I never made it passed the Dracolich because I was done with the game right there. And after hearing about and seeing the DLC I knew it was all no-good. A lot of people out there have felt that the game should've never left the production facility until it was finalized. Even though CV64/LoD did the same thing at least the game was complete in terms of an ending. LoS flopped on this one.

I agree. It was a steal. Alvarez said it eas not their idea though, they didn't like the price tag AT ALL but it was not their decision, it was Konami's.

I kinda figured the DLC would be disappointing, but I'm a pathetic whipped CV fanboy, so I bought it anyway.  I've gotten loads more time and infinitely more fun out of Harmony of Despair than I have out of LoS, DLC included.

i made sure to note on that Konami survey that i prefer new playable characters over new levels as DLC.  its a real shame they couldn't find a way to let you play all of the stages as Laura.

The DLC took a shit all over whatever possible grand mythos they were building up for a truly compelling origin for Dracula and a fresh start for the series. I sincerely hope they're going to retcon the DLC and give us a better Dracula origin in the sequel.

I was saddened by no playable Zobek.
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.

Glad I decided to shell out my $20 for the Folklore DLC and Angry Birds instead.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

The DLC sucked!!!  Pure and simple.  The fact that a "Belmont" becomes Dracula is disappointing but tolerable.  What pissed me off was that they did it in two chapters totaling eight stages to change him from an emo warrior who just "saved" the world to a powerful vampire.  For such an important character in the series (reboot or not), the metamorphosis should have been fleshed out more.  Gabriel's further decent into darkness should have been it's own game ending with the change into Dracula complete.  (My opinion)

I loved the main game but like everyone else said it was crap. First off it cost too damn much for just five stages total that can be beaten in less than two hours. Both DLC were clearly suppose to be one standalone pack but Konami thought it would be fun to separate them and sell an hours worth of content for $10 each.

Secondly, the DLC left more questions than answers and the answers we got were shown poorly though 2D concept art rather than in engine (Maybe the reason for this is because a seperate team was working on the DLC while the rest worked on the sequel but stll they could have put some effort into it). We still dont know HOW he became known as Dracula, what he's done over the past 900 years or why he hid in a church for centuries.

Here's what shoul have happened, Reverie and Resurrection should have been one standalone pack as originally planned (still titled Reverie) while the second DLC (titled Resurrection) should have focused on the death of the hero Gabriel and the birth of Lord  Dracula.

I was too outraged by LOS itself to even notice that there was DLC for it.

The only thing that really bothered me about the DLC was just that Konami still has no clue what they're doing with DLC/digital pricing. It's almost always a given that they'll charge twice as much as they should when they release stuff to the digital marketplace. It almost makes them look more inept than greedy.
It's like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, but instead it's Who Wants Fried Chicken? I do.

The story in the DLC was definitely too rushed and quick. It was something that should have been fleshed out as either part of the game, or part of the sequel. Or maybe just in between source material and mentions like most CV's have done before. but by stuffing it into two small DLC's, both of which were limited mind you, they didnt use the same kind of cutscenes- the sort of crunched the story into a small time frame and it just feels like Gabriel's descent to Darkness is just too quick.
Laura and Gabriel arrive in the deepest cave of the castle and... they find IGA.
