Masaki Hirooka's art

Well, the topic was prompted by the announcement of a new Square Enix game that is using Order of Ecclesia's artist Masaki Hirooka.  I'd be interested in seeing the art in that game just for that.

http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/23/square-enix-teases-unidentified-fantasy-game-for-summer/

But it's also just an excuse to talk about Order of Ecclesia's art and if you'd like to see more of it in Castlevania games.  I loved the character designs in Order of Ecclesia.  I didn't care too much for the monster art that appeared in the intro video though.  Guess they didn't seem very much like Castlevania monsters to me.  At least the anime intro in Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin had some recognizable enemies in it (I'm a big anime fan, so I was more than happy with the anime style of those games).  But that's my only complaint.  I'd be more than happy if Masaki Hirooka made some more art in future CV games and Ayami Kojima was unavailable.  I don't know anything about this guy though.  If he's working on a Square game, is he still available for a Konami game?  Or does he just work with whoever he feels like?

Yeah, he's freelance.

And we love him for it. Well, at least I do.
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

I think the art is great. I would be colored happy if we had some more of it. I'm curious how some of the Belmont's would look.

I hope this guy returns to work on the Castlevania series. I think I actually dig his work more than Kojima's.

In some cases yes. I liked how Barlowe had all those wrinkles. But for the rest I think Kojima puts more details in the clothes.
If they ever hire someone to do the art for a Castlevania game and Kojima wasn't available, they should totally hire him. That or hire Yoh and Koh Yoshinari, the character designers for Valkyrie profile.

Masaki Hirooka > Ayami Kojima

Ayami's style IS good, but let's face it, Girly men aren't awesome.

Ayami Kojima's illustrations of eyes is probably her strongest side imo, soma being a good example.

regardless, I will always consider ayami kojimas artwork to be absolutely superior no matter what. she makes to such a supreme detailed quality unmatched.
