I haven't installed it.  Only downloaded it.  Looks cool for $9.99.  Caught the last days of the savings.

Some tips:

Buy the reading software at the start.
Get the map.
Use a notebook and WRITE EVERYTHING from the tablets. Also, the name of the rooms too.

When you read a tablet that flips and says to you not read it anymore, DON'T READ, it'll activate the hard mode and can't be deactivated. I don't recomend hard mode on the first playthrough (which was what I did, and GODDAMIT, that was a fucking mistake).

Enjoy one of the best non-linear metroidvanias out there.

To be fair, Incubbus did say he was *not* going to pirate this in his original post, and specifically because he appreciates how hard the developers worked (" I appraciate the giant pain in the ass the developers had to go through to get this thing out in English). I think he's one of the guys who would pirate corporate games but understands that indie devs are bros, at least to an extent.

That said, while I've heard of La Mulana before, I've never really played it...this looks very nice, though. Monster designs are scary!

Get the fuck off of my internet.

And I'M being called arrogant, ungrateful and self important.

I already proved that this particular game isn't an indie game in the strictest sense and furthermore, Uzo, you have no idea the circumstances of the development of said game beyond what is public knowledge nor do you know the actual financial situations of those involved in it's development. So your assumptions are grossly unfounded.

EDIT: Your unwarranted words are exactly the kind of thing that would push someone of lesser spirit to go ahead and download BOTH games just to spite you, but I'm not an asshole nor am I petty.

Well, again, to be fair, Incubbus, if it's not an indie game in the *strictest* sense it's still an indie game in a looser sense, at least. Details may be important, but an excessive focus on technicalities generally doesn't lead to many productive pursuits. Even if La Mulana isn't 100% indie, the 'official/corporate' sponsors are still doing their best to bring us something we want, they're not just shivving us for money as their ilk often does. For that alone I'd say they deserve our cash.

That said, though, again, since you're not actually pirating the game, I don't really see the need for acrimony. And sure, someone petty may have reacted worse than you did, but we're not petty guys, as you said, and besides, those of us who've been around the Dungeon for a while have pretty thick skins--uzo can be harsh, but he almost always has arguments to back it up, which puts him a cut above the sort of Internet Tuff Guys you see elsewhere. If, in this case, his criticism of you seems to be based on a belief that you're pirating the game when you really aren't (Maybe I'm wrong, if I'm misinterpreting him or you as well), I wouldn't dwell that much on it.

And come on guys, at the very least the pros and cons of piracy are off topic.

*gurgles at Ratty contentedly*

The interesting thing is, from what I understand the original La Mulana wasn't made for the MSX either, but was created in the *2000s* as a throwback to MSX games. Pretty cool :o

I had no time to play it!  I had to see my dad (he's visiting from S.America).
But I will make time for this.  It's sitting here, in my "My Downloads", waiting to be installed and run.  But I took some work home and went out with friends and ARGH I WISH I HAD MORE TIME!

Yeap. That's right. That's why the 'laptop' in the game is called an MS-X. That whole mechanic is pretty cool.

Actually, on the remake, it's called Super Mobile X... All the references to MS-X were removed.

No doubt it's a legal issue. "MSX" is sure to be trademarked, doesn't make the game any less of a tribute, just less likely to be the victim of greedy rights holders.
