How tied are you to the 100 years between episodes? Do you think you could do a Castlevania without Dracula?

In America, it's Castlevania, so I suppose you can do that, but in Japan, it's called Akumajou Dracula, so it would be kind of weird to not have Dracula in there.

Uh was he on crack or something during the interview? His favorite game doesn't have Dracula in the title it's called Akumajou Densetsu which translates to legend of demon castle, no dracula, and the genesis game is called Vampire Killer no drac. there either, and it's funny cuz that's a game he was talking about earlier in the interview. :?

If that were true, then I think he was on crack a lot of other times. Like when he made Pumpkin Mode, for example.

well he was probably just trying to draw in women and people other than the normal group that buys these kind of games.  I agree it's retarded though.

Konami is really trying to appeal to the fruit demographic.

I agree. Iga's gone mad with power. I mean just looks at all the random stuff he's throwing into games. Terror Bear?? And insidious stuffed toy filled with iron sand?? And do I have to mention the chair side-quest of CoD??

Heh, fetch quests seem to be ingrained into these types of games. PoR took it to a whole new and somewhat unnecessary level. Sure, it may have kept in line with IGA's mantra of increasing playtime to make the money spent worthwhile, but grabbing New York Steaks, pressing up at randomly placed landmarks, and running back and forth stabbing 1500 enemies with the same subweapon wasn't the best way to approach that methinks.

There is something a little demeaning when you have filler fetch-quest crap like making your burly vampire hunter see how many different daisies he can pick.

Also I was thinking.. as far as we know Dracula is hiding during the 300 years between loi & cod. So how would IGA make games in that era when there's no Dracula?

If you wanna think of the cornball way someone can handle this:

- Belmont tracks down new vampire.
- Bemont quests through THAT vampire's castle.
- Dracula pops in to laugh at Belmont, then flees.
- Belmont wonders "WTF?".
- Belmont enters the vampires room and kills it.
- Repeat formula thorugout 300 year period.

Logical, logical. After all, Leon pledge to "hunt the night", and that qualifies for other vampires too. They could spend the 300 year period hunting other vampires, looking for Dracula, not finding him until Dracula's Curse.

but the belmonts would have never heard of dracula until the 1400's he went by Mathias according to LoI when the belmonts first encountered him. I think the belmonts just hunt any vampires until Legend of Demon Castle, then when Drac rears his ugly head and they see that he has the stone and death is his servant they put 2 and 2 together.

They weren't shitty, granted there's room for improvement in both  games (especially LOI's music) but neither of them are shitty games, I think the drastic changes in gameplay, making the games take a long time and the new story elements just turned alot of people off. Back to The Future for the nes now THAT's a shitty game.  :)

Wow.  Where'd that come from?  The music in LoI was varied and beautiful.
