I've got a draft of the script by Anderson dated June 19th, 2006 if anyone is interested.

Guys, it's Anderson. We'll be lucky if he doesn't cast his wife as Simona Belmont, or some chick who dispatches all the monsters while the Belmonts watch uselessly.
It'll barely have anything to do with the source material. A poorly scripted movie with Vampires and probably 2 scenes in a castle. A character named Soma will be the goofy sidekick who dies and some character named Alucard will be the big bad. (Gotta save Dracula for the inevitable sequel.) It'll also make a bajillion dollars and hijack the popular conception of the franchise.

The only reason he didn't mess up Mortal Kombat was because it barely had a plot to mess up in the first place, and said story was largely a homage to cheesy martial arts flicks anyway.

If only movies were done by people interested in the universe or the story of the game(s) (or other things, such as books) and not by the "omg game movie lolol $$$$" fact, many movies would have been better.

Case in point go watch Thomas Jane's Dirty Laundry short to see what it looks like when a guy who likes a universe of something is calling the shots.

Yes, please.  That's the script with Castlevania in New York, right?

Alright then. I can't attach it though, it's too big. I can send it via email though.

I haven't read it yet, myself. I was too caught up reading Dracula: Year Zero and The Last Voyage of the Demeter, and knowing what I did about Paul WTF Anderson's Castlelamea didn't entice me to sit down and go through it. I've still got Sherlock Holmes and the Vengeance of Dracula waiting to be read too.

I don't know about you but I'm not counting on this ever coming out of development heck. And even if it does...I doubt it's gonna be any good enough for a pity watch. Spluh. I've said it before, I'll say it again- video games don't translate to movies very well, and vice versa.

It had the twist that Lords had, with the epilogue being set in the present day. It didn't work in the movie script, and it's one of my biggest beefs with Lords.

Paul W.S. Anderson? HELL NO, Last thing I need to see is Katana wielding Milla Jovovich trying to pose off as Belmont.
Can we get someone who knows what the fuck they are doing?

Nope, that would make too much sense and require him to know or care anything at all about the Castlevania universe/continuity.
Anderson's idea of an "adaptation" is more along the lines of having a totally unrelated story with a few elements from the series (like, say, zombies) then putting name-drops on characters who have no resemblance to their game "inspirations".** Also I don't know if he's capable of making films without his wife as a Mary-Sue anymore. I don't even get why people enjoy her performances. Suffice it to say, if the best movie you've done in the 5th Element, there may be some problem with your chosen career path.

But if the whims of chance are kind to the series Anderson's movie will never get out of development hell. T'would be better for the series to die with dignity than for that to happen.

**For those unfamiliar with his work here's just one example - He named a character "K-Mart" in one Resident Evil movie (Subtle product placement there!) only to later "reveal" she was a familiar series heroine in another movie, not that the characters were in any way alike.
