So after the OnLive close-down rumor turned out to be somewhat correct (all the shareholders lost their shares, and an assload of employees got the boot before the company was bought out by Lauder Partners, LLC), now it seems that Nintendo Power may soon be suffering a similar fate, only without the light at the end of the tunnel.

WHAT JUSTICE IS THERE ANYMORE?
How not to be a dark lord: the answer to that is a terribly interesting answer that involves an almost Jedi-like adherence to keeping oneself under control and finding ways to be true to yourself in a way that doesn't encourage the worst parts of you to become dangerously exaggerated and instead feeds your better nature. Also, protip: don't fuck with Alchemy or strike up any deals with ancient Japanese Shinigami gods no matter how tempting the deal or how suavely dressed the Shinigami is.

Nintendo apparently lost interest in the magazine years ago when they hired someone else to run and publish it, so I'm not surprised they're giving up on it entirely.

Well thats somewhat of a negative comment for a situation like this..... but I guess it  doesn't matter.:-\

As cheesy as many of the comments and reviews were in those infamous magazines they will be sorely missed. I grew up looking at those mags...  :'(

Before internet there was Nintendo Power.

I always read Game Pro when I was a kid. But Nintendo Power was alright, even with their obvious bias.

This is what happened with "Dragon" aka "The Dragon", Dungeons and Dragon's official magazine. Except that Wizards/Hasbro soon after started publishing it as an online-only mag for D&D subscribers.

I am not too worried seeing what happened with a similar fate to EGM and now their back in business...

Well if Nintendo Power does go out of business I have only one thing to say about it

http://nooooooooooooooo.com/

As for NP itself, it's culturally significant for being one of the first main-stream console-games magazine. Even if it was heavily biased it still doesn't change the fact that they were sometimes the only hope we had as kids. Try playing Milon's Secret Castle, Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest and, to a lesser extent, Zelda 2 without the power, NINTENDO POWER.

Here's AVGN's half nerd, half James Rolfe review of NP

I was actually quite surprised that Nintendo Power still exists. I thought it was a magazine that only existed in the NES/SNES era.

When was the last time NP even had a vdieo game guide? All I see from them are previews and reviews, official artwork, and ads upon ads. When was the last time they had kickass artwork, walkthrus, cheats, tips & tricks, and all that jazz?

Nowadays people dont wanna to pay for information when they can see it in the internet.
The funny thing is: if someday the internet cease to exist like *Poof*, we are f*cked lol

Pokemon emerald is the last guide that I have that was published by Nintendo power.

This shouldn't affect the guide for Pokemon Black 2/White 2.  8)
