I kinda miss FuncoLand, but I'll be forever pissed for them buying SNES Batman Forever off me for a measly $2, which I had just days before bought for $12 brand spanking new. I guess it's my own damn fault for getting it in the first place, but how was a kid to know...

I never even made it past the fifth screen (I think it was) where you have to use the grappling hook. Didn't know how that game was played until I saw the AVGN video, and it made me pissed all over again.

Funcoland! I loved that place. Prior to Gamestop becoming the shit company it's known as today, they were a series of stores known as Software Etc., Babbages, and EB Games. Each store had their own unique flare to it, and I loved going in those stores at the mall with all their colorful lights & sexual Japanese innuendos. But nowadays, they all "merged" and become "Gamestop," the bane of gamer's existence everywhere. Fortunately there's still a few independant game stores left, such as Play N Trade, which is basically the new-age Funcoland. I rarely go to Gamestop due to their shady business practices (google it) and their policy on trade-ins. Ripping the customer off. Assholes.

There's this other store near me called Game Hut that I've never heard of, maybe I'll check it out later today

Meh, I think you'll get a more fair price on Ebay than you ever will from GameStop.

When I am online I bounce between amazon and ebay mostly. Other than that, it's mom and pops video game stores for me. However, they are becoming more and more scarece.

Yeah we have a small indy store called Retro Gaming (at least I think that's the title). It's basically what Funcoland used to be. They sell all sorts of retro shit, even rare stuff like Commodore 64's, Intellivisions, Colecovisions, Atari Jaguars, and even movies.

I've only ever had pleasant visits to GameStop. Must be that whole "Minnesota nice" thing or something.

Just last week (or was that two or three weeks ago?) I got a 3DS XL and was able to retroactively get the $100 discount for trading in my regular 3DS. It was even a pain for them to figure out how to do it (since corporate hadn't given instructions), so they worked something out to give me $100 (plus tax) in cash instead of putting it back on the card, and that was no biggie. I was surprised I even could get the full amount back afterward (since I wannid ta take the XL home to transfer all my data).

But yeah, the smaller game stores were more fun. The Mall of America had a place called EBX, and that place was tits, shiny silvery logo sign and all.

Also, shitting on GameStop but praising FuncoLand... Something tells me you folks aren't remembering how FuncoLand was essentially the same thing with the same prices, just older games.

The to getting an emergency used Wiimote was about 4 years ago to borrow a pandora battery from one of the employees. Funny thing is I didn't know anyone working at the store. I took for granted that at least one of them would have a hacked PSP and it turned out I was right.

Bought a gamestop brand controller brand new, thing broke in less than a week.

Other than that yeah I heard about this a while ago I think, selling vintage games on their website for some sort of currency converted points. Weren't they charging some ridiculous amount for Mario/Duckhunt aka the most common game on the NES?
