Dorn: Castlevania is a movie that Marina got me involved with. It’s based on a video game. People have been trying to get this thing done for a long time and they finally got the producers together that want to do it. They finally got the OK from the owners, and so they’re doing it. It’s a fun little part. It’s four days, and I’m playing a werewolf that’s been around for a gajillion years who works for this vampire. It’s not too far from Worf because there’s a lot of killing and jumping and sword fights and everything.

What is this with Trek people being connected to the Castlevania movie? Wasn't Jonathan Frakes rumored to play Sonia's grandfather at one point?

Yes Johnathan Frakes was rumored to be in it. That was a long time ago. I really don't want this movie to happen, cause I think it'll be terrible like the Resident Evil movies if it still is the same director. I'm sure it's still going to happen, and I'm sure it'll be awful, but I guess I'll try to remain hopeful. Maybe this guy could be Cornell in an LoS movie?

Not only that, but he mentions that Marina got him into it, by which I assume he means Marina Sirtis, who was Counselor Troi on Star Trek:TNG. So presumably she has or had some part to play in front of or behind the camera on this as well. Also "a gajillion" I assume that's an exact number lol. Well this might be a so bad it's good movie but I wouldn't hope for more than that. When you've got werewolf servants you're getting into "The Return of the Vampire " territory and away from explicit storyline in the games.

Nah, he mentioned it's a 4 day shoot so it's a cameo. Knowing Anderson the character is likely to be named Cornell, but it won't resemble the Cornell we love from LoD in the slightest. It's interesting that Dorn says he's a servant "for this Vampire" so presumably the villain for this film won't be Dracula, figures. I would just hope they keep to the Castle setting instead of doing something stupid like bringing it to New York. Teasing the audience with a proper fantasy movie in a castle only to cut to "New York, Present Day" after the credits are over or whatever is one of the most ass-chaffingly annoying tropes in the entire genre.

I mean they're going to make a big, dumb, loud and very expensive movie here. They might as well make a big, dumb, loud very expensive movie called Castlevania in a bloody castle. Instead of cutting to present day like so many movies do because it's cheaper and easier to shoot than a period piece.

Knock a Star Trek cast in a Castlevania movie all you want, but don't try to deny that they all assembled together before to make one hell of a show that was meant for kids but enjoyed by teens and adults:

That said, the werewolf bit is cringe-worthy, I agree.

Speaking of werewolves, I finally watched "Despicable Me" this weekend. If you've seen it, you should know how that tied in with werewolves.

Does anyone else also think it's a bad sign that this guy says there are going to be a lot of sword fights in the movie?

I see some people already think that this movie will be 100% bad and nothing else. I won't be so...adamant about it. Waht if it will be good movie on its own, but a bad Castlevania movie? I will be content with that, since if anything, the past experiences with video games movies leave me with little hope for it to be "good video game adaption".
Though given past records of this director, I won't be so sure that it will be a good movie on its own, but I prefer to see it or at least know more about it, rather than insta-bash it with little to data.

Any hope that Castlevania movie from any director will closely resemble any game is futile. Thanks for different mediums and general need of material adaption. And the fact that there is many styles in Castlevania. Someone will be disappointed anyway.

^Not sure if that is what you were getting at but I agree that the movie's first priority is to capture the feel of the games and make more direction references (like storyline references and characters to a certain extent). It doesn't have to resemble one specific game, but the basic foundation should be there at least. And obviously the movie should share the same concept of that of the games. They shouldn't make it a Bram Stoker's Dracula rip-off, like Anderson's initial idea.

As for bashing, I'm trying really hard to stay positive. I liked Wan's view on the series which made me interested in how he would execute his ideas, but I'm kind of worried about Anderson's involvement. And I'm not just basing that on his past (video game) movies if you know what I mean.
