I haven't received any Castleville request from IGA in a while...

But I'm feeling you. Things may get better when MercurySteam is done doing their thing. Which will be soon.

I'm not sure about the validity of the rest, but last I heard Ayami Kojima was doing art for Hideyuki Kikuchi's new Vampire Hunter novel series, Another Vampire Hunter the Noble Greylancer (http://vampirehunterd.wikia.com/wiki/Another_Vampire_Hunter_Series). Anyone doing artwork for Mr. Kikuchi is generally accepted as doing well for themselves, especially for one of his longer running series (like Vampire Hunter D), even if it is an offshoot novel series.

What? No more Amano? Gah. Amano's D was THE Vampire Hunter D.

That said, I like the gal that did the manga versions of VHD, too.

You forgot their complete dismissal of the 25th Anniversary, and how dead the Anti-Chapel has become o.o;

But i think things will get better. After LoS2 is released next year, they can go back to the real timeline & make the games like the old ones. Best case scenario, WayForward picks up the slack and delivers a high-def CANON classicvania, featuring Soleiyu or Quincy. I doubt any other developer will make games in the LoS universe, because

1: Cox repeatedly stated that MercurySteam wants to tie up all loose ends & close their storyline

2: Fans across the net are practically begging for a return to the original timeline/play style

3: MS wants to work on other games other than Castlevania

So don't fret, my son, things will be as they once were, but better. We just gotta be patient. LoS2 will be a good game (still kinda on the fence about MoF), but we deserve more.

Konami wants west-style gaming. But Castlevania was always a Japanese thing.
Times changing.

Amano is still doing the original Vampire Hunter D series, Mr. Kikuchi is doing a kind of prequel novel about Another Vampire Hunter the Noble Greylancer set in the same universe as VHD, just several thousand years prior, if I remember correctly.

So don't worry, we'll still get our delicious Amano D.

Classic Castlevania is officialy dead. Iga is sending me CityVille requests from Facebook. MercurySteam doesn't know anything about the old series (they just reference the mythology). Michiru Yamane left the video game business (Skullgirls is just a freelance temporary job). Ayami Kojima is loosing her career. Konami wants west-style gaming. But Castlevania was always a Japanese thing.

Even without the Triumvirate, Castlevania can still succeed. It just needs to land in the right hands in order to do so. IGA was well-known but he never invented Castlevania. Michiru Yamane and Ayami Kojima are also well-known for their contributions, but like IGA they were not around during the birth of the series. So to me CV isn't dead and it doesn't need to rely solely on those mentioned above just to survive. CV is just going through a transitional phase with the LoS series at the moment. We'll see what happens afterwards.

Wait wait wait...Kojima is doing art for some books for Vampire Hunter D?! WHY AM I JUST NOW HEARING ABOUT THIS?! I know it's just a spin-off novel thing, but Kojima doing art for the VHD universe is like a dream come true!

Of course, I will still always love Amano's artwork for the main series, but I am really curious to see Kojima's take on the VHD universe.

EDIT: And Amazon is my friend http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/switch-language/product/4022739797/ref=dp_change_lang/378-8235800-1413730?ie=UTF8&language=en_JP

That first link lets you take a peek inside the book for more Kojima goodness!  :P

But uh, to actually say something relevant to the topic here, I have lost some hope in Castlevania myself lately, but I will always remain a fan. I still think MoF looks interesting, but I still dislike LoS. And there is not enough stuff out there for me to judge LoS2 yet.

I honestly don't see why so many people don't like MercurySteam's interpretation of Castlevania. Please explain.

For the same reason some people didn't like Rob Zombie's interpretation of Halloween, or Platinum Dune's interpretation of A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Seriously? I thought you guys would have been all over this when it was announced...oh well, glad I shared!

I have to say I'm excited for the next 2 installments of LoS. I'm a little sad to see it end but also hopeful to see what the future holds for my beloved series. Here's to hoping for more CV after LoS instead of just canning the entire series and forgetting it forever or relegating it to pachislots. Here's looking at you Legend of the Mystical Ninja.

Well, the only thing that I can say is to try to remain faithful, we dont know with will happens after they lauch LoS 2 and MoF. Remember that some franchises take much more time until they release a new title and their fans have to wait much more than we already waited. Im not happy with the actual situation too, but Im trying to doesnt take it seriously until we see Konami next move.

I'm not trolling, uzo. I'm completely serious. As far as I see it, the hate on LoS is simply "oh God something I like is changing this is so horrible and the worst possible thing to ever happen ever." Bear in mind this is because no one's explained to me why it's so hated. Remember, I'm not as deeply involved in the Castlevania universe and its updates as most people on here are (getting better, but still). I don't really pay much attention to these things and as such need them explained to me.

So, again, why do people hate MercurySteam's Castlevania?
