PS - Sorry if I came off with an aggressive tone or anything. I just get mad thinking about this sort of thing lol.
Water under the bridge, don't sweat it. These are easy topics to get heated about since we're so invested in them, both financially and emotionally.

I agree Nintendo needs to think of something to try and get their original market segment back, but they also need to look toward the more hardcore user market. I mean, I only touched my Wii recently (lol) to play Xenoblade and Last Story, all of the other drivel offered on the console is honestly a bore to me. And I think Nintendo saw that, which is why they're trying (though how successfully only the future will tell) to market the Wii U to a broader spectrum of gamers, casual to hardcore.
How will it pan out? Will the 3DS take the reigns for being the go-to device for handheld gaming fun? I think the outlooks are good, when I was at PAX this year everywhere I turned people were enjoying themselves on a 3DS. Which is a lot better than last year where you'd see one every once in awhile. And a lot of that lies in content available. If Nintendo made a eShop title that was the second coming of Angry Birds, I'm sure people would consider picking one up to play it.
So long story short; content will drive the sales. And though I pine for the days of picking up Japanese titles to play on my Nintendo handhelds, at least Sony still lets me do this without any modifications to their systems.

Thanks Sony!
