Not sure if anyone saw this, but it looks like LoI is out on PS3 in Japan, maybe we'll see it elsewhere.
This is a great game, I've always enjoyed it, so if it comes out I'll be getting it.

This is somewhat old news, but if they do decide to bring it stateside (and everywhere else outside Japan), then i'd buy it fo sho

perhaps this is Konami's way of gauging how much interest people still have in the "Akumajo" series

News to me. If it does come stateside I'll buy. Mostly because I don't want to hook up my ps2 to play it. Lazy, I know.

I wonder if it will be a straight port or have any improvements/bonus content? Imo some reworked faces would be great, specifically leon himself

I know it won't happen but if they reworked the level design and a couple other things in the game it would easily be the best 3d Castlevania, imo.

If it's in HD, it would be worth the purchase. The graphics in that game still hold up extremely well, which makes the subsequent 3D games sans Lords all the more baffling in terms of how muddy the graphics were.

I hope the graphics will get a lil' update and that they add a few bonuses.

It's straight port. As a function of PlayStation2-Archives, it has up-convert and smoothing.
I'm on hiatus now.

I have finish it 2 weeks ago on PS2. I wasn't expecting new content, but if the graphics are having some upgrade, then i'll buy it.

Interesting.  I didn't think it was that popular of a PS2 title, so I'm surprised they would port it.  I won't be getting it because I can play my PS2 disc on my PS3.  If there was some sort of improvement, like Hi-res textures or something, I'd probably pick it up.

And yes, Lament is the best 3D CV in my opinion.  It's too bad the level design was so flat - that was the only thing holding it back from being an amazing 3D Metroidvania.

I agree. But for me the one character that needs the most work is Sara. She's supposed to be European but they made her look Asian and it wasn't done very either.

As flat as LoI's level designs were, no way can it be compared to the flat level designs of CoD.

As flat as LoI's level designs were, no way can it be compared to the flat level designs of CoD.

Sadly this couldn't be any more true.

Its especially sad when you consider that one of the main complaints about LOI was its flat level design and instead of addressing the issue IGA and team just made it worse with the slew of flat/repetitive level design of COD (wow, sounds like I'm kinda bashing IGA.....weird lol).

I think IGA and team just got to caught up in making Curse of Darkness a much bigger experience as far as level and exploration goes but completely neglected platforming in favor of much bigger areas which was a pretty dumb move if you ask me considering platforming has been 1 of the main focuses of the series since CV1.

Also the fact that Hector ran so freaken slow made it even more frustrating.

Would have been nice to have a relic similar to Leon's wolf's foot or some boots that let you run faster.

But instead we had to traverse a huge plain of nothing but flat areas that offered pretty much no platforming or ways to lessen the hassle.

The game play mechanic of CoD was interesting, but the only memorable think i have from it is playing like Trevor. I hope for a higher resolution graphics on the port, since the characters models were not the best, especially Sara's. I loved the LoI enemies designs more than the ones from CoD. I don't know, but CoD feels like it took out all the good elements that LoI had and kept only the bad one's and improved them only for the worst. Zero platforming for a game that was known from the very first game about platforming?

Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness are so disappointing to me that it really doesn't matter which one is better or worse. Actually, Curse of Darkness is more disappointing, not necessarily because it's a worse game, but because, as mentioned, the problems with Lament weren't addressed at all, but made even worse. It's so hard for me to grasp that the same guy who fronted Aria of Sorrow, an incredibly intelligent and inspired game in all areas --sans for an overpowered weapon/soul or two-- is the same guy who fronted those two games. As someone who puts out creative pieces of work on display for myself and others to enjoy, I can't possibly imagine doing that, especially if I was getting paid.

Anyway, I don't really mind if no work is done on the game. It's really not even worth it, in my mind. No matter how much you polish that thing, a turd is going to be a turd. If work would be done on it, I'd like to see work done on it that would actually make a real difference (yeah, I know that will never happen). I'm only so hard on those games because I care (as corny as it sounds). It's sad to see two things with so much potential that I'd really love to love fail horribly because of incredibly boneheaded design decisions. There are some Castlevania games that I dislike, and some others that I hate and find offensive, but I don't think I could ever bring myself to hate LoI or CoD. They just make me somewhat forlorn.
